Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Bellew.
Hi Elizabeth, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We started off our business because pat was told he needed to find a way to support his cigar habit. Since he loves cigars we put together some flyers and we visited all the bars and resorts around the Lake of The Ozarks and asked if anyone would be interested in offering their customers a Cigar bar . We had amazing responses so we started Southern Cross Cigars mobile lounge. We started out strong and when winter hit we decided we may want to add a brick and mortar store so we found a great location and opened up the store and lounge. Along the way we have met some amazing customers who we consider family and we cater to all those customers so that we can make their love of cigars more convenient and help them experience blends and brands they cant usually get around the lake.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When winter came our first year all business dried up. Who wants to sit outside to enjoy a cigar. All we had was a tent and tables. So we found a building we could rent and went about making it feel like a home while still being a business. Our struggles have been just being able to expand and keep up with our customer base. Our first year was a success and we found that the building we are in just needs some tweaking. So this year will bring more expansion now that we have a wonderful outside area for our guests.
We’ve been impressed with Southern Cross Cigars, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We offer many different Premium Cigars to our customers. We pride ourselves on finding specific blends our customers ask for so they can stop in and grab one when on the go or they can stop in and relax while they enjoy their cigar. We have expanded out to providing humidors and cigars to several bars, breweries and even other lounges with cigars for their customers allowing us to spread our product further into the area. We pride ourselves on how well we take care of our product but what product we carry and the price of it as well.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Swimming at the local pool all day with friends.
