Hi Diamond, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Diamond Fuse. I am the owner of Kansas City’s #1 soft playground company Bizzy Babies. I was born in California and migrated between the two states. I am also a full time mom which inspired me to pursue entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship was something I’ve always been forced to chase. Climbing the corporate ladder or the unfair wages was something I never felt okay settling for. I saw other companies around the country starting soft playground companies and this prompted me to create my own. I began Bizzy Babies in september 2020 right in the middle of a pandemic. Since starting Bizzy Babies I have had the honor of being featured on 41 action news and worked with so many great organizations. I have a non profit organization called Playhouse Visions; were I teach pre teens and teens to make visionboards. I love to hire the youth so I can mentor them, as well as show them work ethic. To sum me up , I am becoming a serial entrepreneur! Bizzy Babies will be one of many businesses I will start. A motto I live by is “It’s ok to copycat, just copy the right cat!”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This has not been a smooth road and it’s still a road we are paving the way on. Some struggles come from the staff. Hiring the youth comes with a lot of unsure help some days, a lot of direction giving, and some unnecessary hiccups just due to their lack of knowledge. Some hurdles were transporting and losing inventory during transport. We made a huge investment just six months after being open and purchased a box truck to eliminate the loss of inventory and hopefully prepare us for a two truck crew in the near future. I’m grateful to have mentors in this industry like the owner of Life of the Party KC Shahidah Salaam to teach me how to endure through the good and the bad that comes with running any business. Overall, I keep a great support team in place and I live a healthy lifestyle. I take boxing classes with Ritchie Cherry, owner of Box Out Stress, to deal with the challenges I face.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, what I do is take soft playgrounds to birthday parties, corporate events, daycares etc wherever kids five and under will be. Soft playgrounds are a safe, sensory space, children can feel secure as they play. Active play helps children develop at all levels of skill building such as physical, emotional, mental, and social. What makes us different from other companies? Bizzy Babies operate seven days a week. We target children’s parties on the weekend and tackle daycares and schools during the week. We want to make sure we are giving out these child development benefits through play to our students and our community children.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
As a kid, I always played games where I was the owner or manager of some sort. I always imagined being in a leadership role. I’ve always been an entrepreneur by heart. I was never satisfied as an employee. I’ve always felt too creative and yearned for more when I was in an employee position. Being the oldest child, I’ve always had to be the leader of the pack. Now, I’m leading my family to a better life, my siblings to better options, and of course leading my children to a better future.
