Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Newland.
Hi Cindy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For years, I struggled with my relationship with food. I was stuck in cycles of overeating, quick fixes, and frustration. No matter what I tried, nothing seemed to last. I felt tired, discouraged, and defeated.
Everything started to shift when I had a back injury. I realized I had brought it on myself through overeating and lack of exercise. I was morbidly obese and it was time to make a change.
I stopped chasing diets and began focusing on simple, whole plant-based foods. Instead of restriction, I learned how to nourish my body. Instead of extremes, I leaned into consistency. Instead of sitting on the couch, I moved my body. And over time, things began to change—not just physically, but mentally and spiritually too.
I went on to lose over 100 pounds, become a health coach and personal trainer, but more importantly, I found freedom. Food no longer controls my thoughts, my emotions, or my daily life. I feel clearer, more energized, and more connected to my purpose.
My faith also became a bigger part of my journey. I realized this wasn’t just about weight—it was about “returning to the Garden” and eating real food instead of processed to take care of the body I’ve been given.
Now, I share simple plant-based recipes at IntentionallyEat.com and practical guidance to help other women, especially those over 40, find that same freedom. I focus on real food, easy recipes, and a sustainable approach that fits into everyday life.
Because this isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress, peace, and creating a lifestyle that actually lasts.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wasn’t a quick transformation—it took me over four years to lose over 100 pounds. Along the way, I had to work through emotional eating, break a long-time soda habit, and learn how to stay consistent even when progress was slow. There were seasons where I wanted to quit, times I had to start over, and moments where the scale didn’t move at all. But I kept going, focused on small changes and trusting the process. Those obstacles didn’t stop me—they shaped the sustainable, balanced lifestyle I live today.
As you know, we’re big fans of Intentionally Eat. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I run a plant-based wellness brand focused on helping women, especially those over 40, lose weight and find freedom with food in a simple, sustainable way. After losing over 100 pounds myself, I understand how overwhelming and frustrating the process can feel, which is why everything I offer is designed to be practical, approachable, and realistic for everyday life.
My work includes coaching, books, meal plans, plant-based products, and hormone-supporting blends, all centered around whole foods. I specialize in easy recipes and systems that support weight loss, balance hormones, and help women stay consistent without feeling restricted or overwhelmed.
What sets my brand apart is that I focus on simplicity and real life. There’s no perfection or complicated rules—just clear guidance, nourishing food, and habits that actually stick. I also weave in faith, encouraging women to care for their bodies while growing spiritually and breaking free from cycles of overeating.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of creating offerings that truly support women where they are—from simple pantry staples that make healthy cooking easier, to structured meal plans and coaching that provide direction and accountability.
I want readers to know this isn’t about a quick fix. It’s about building a lifestyle that supports your health, your hormones, and your purpose—with tools and support that make the journey feel doable.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I definitely haven’t done this alone. First and foremost, I give all the credit to God. He’s been my strength, my direction, and the reason I kept going—even in the seasons where I felt stuck or wanted to quit. This journey has been just as spiritual as it has been physical and professional.
My husband, Shane, has also been a huge part of this. He’s been steady, supportive, and encouraging through every phase—from the early days of figuring things out to building the business into what it is now. Having someone who believes in you, even on the hard days, makes all the difference. He’s also a fantastic taste-tester!
And truly, my clients and community deserve so much credit, too. The women I serve have trusted me, shown up, and shared their stories. They’ve not only supported the business, but they’ve helped shape it. Their feedback, their wins, and even their struggles have guided what I create and how I serve.
It’s been a collective journey, and I’m incredibly grateful for every person who’s been part of it.
