Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Ross.
Hi Casey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into coaching, health, nutrition, and personal training really started when I was a kid. From as long as I can remember, I was always the one my friends would come to for advice. It came naturally to me long before I ever knew it could be a career. Looking back, I was “coaching” without realizing it, and I loved how fulfilling it felt to help others.
Athletics played a huge role in shaping me. I was a competitive gymnast from age 5 through highschool. In 4th grade, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. By 5th grade, I was wearing a back brace 20 hours a day to avoid surgery. Sports gave me structure and identity, but when I entered college, that suddenly disappeared. I didn’t know how to train outside of gymnastics, my back was in constant pain, and I was receiving conflicting advice from doctors on how to help it. One doctor would tell me to avoid deadlifts at all costs and another would tell me it would be helpful. This has been said about various exercises and modalities my whole life. It was frustrating and confusing but it also sparked something in me. I wanted to figure out how to move, train, and take care of my body in a way that worked for me. That trial-and-error journey eventually led me to earning my personal training certification right after graduation.
At the same time, I was struggling with food and body image. Starting in high school, I fell into the cycle of restrictive dieting losing weight quickly only to regain it, constantly unhappy with myself. Deep down, I believed I could heal my relationship with food and feel confident again, so I began studying nutrition in college, learning from experts, and shifting my mindset. It wasn’t an overnight change, but slowly, I created balance and freedom with food that felt sustainable. Experiencing that transformation firsthand is what fueled my passion to help others achieve it too, without the years of trial and error I went through.
All of these experiences being a natural coach, overcoming scoliosis challenges, learning how to train outside of sports, healing my relationship with food came together to make it clear that no other career path would fulfill me like health and fitness coaching.
Professionally, I’ve worked in a variety of roles: as a telephonic health coach for WebMD, an in-person health coach, a personal trainer, and eventually head nutrition coach at a gym. Each role sharpened my skills and taught me how to truly support people in their health journey. But ultimately, I always knew I wanted to run my own business. After having my son in 2021, I decided to take the leap and I haven’t looked back since.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. My journey has had plenty of challenges, both personally and professionally. Early on, I faced the frustration of living with scoliosis, losing the structure of sports when I went to college, and struggling to figure out how to exercise on my own while dealing with pain. I, also, had years of battling a negative relationship with food, restrictive dieting, cycles of losing and regaining weight, and the frustration of never feeling confident. Working through all of that took a lot of trial and error, but those challenges ended up shaping me into the coach I am today.
When I started my business, a whole new set of challenges came up. I was a new mom. I had my son home with me while starting my business at 12-weeks postpartum. Juggling a baby at home with work is a challenge by itself. I had to overcome the fear of “feeling salesy” when talking about my services, and even just putting myself out there on social media felt uncomfortable at first. The last boss I had follows me and still is shocked that the person who hated doing any social media content when I worked there is now posting daily on social media. You could say there has been a lot of growth! There was also a steep learning curve in figuring out how to market myself in a way that felt authentic. Some seasons have felt smooth, while others have been filled with doubt, pivots, and growth.
But those ups and downs have been worth it. I’ve learned how to align my business with who I really want to serve, and how to share my message in a way that connects with the right people. Now, I feel like everything is in alignment my story, my purpose, and my coaching and that clarity makes the hard parts feel worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of Casey Ross Fitness and Dynami. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I run a fitness and nutrition coaching business that helps busy adults, especially those over 30, lose weight, build strength, and improve their health without extreme dieting or spending endless hours in the gym. I specialize in helping those who have gone from diet to diet, yo-yo dieting, and who are frustrated by not see results no matter how well they eat. We are taught to always eat less and move more. But I help clients lose weight while eating more and moving their bodies in a sustainable way.
My approach is rooted in sustainability. I don’t believe in restrictive meal plans or workouts that take over your life. Instead, I teach my clients how to eat all foods in moderation, train efficiently, and build habits that fit seamlessly into their lifestyle.
One of my core offerings is my 12-week 1:1 coaching program, where clients get personalized nutrition guidance, customized training plans, weekly check-ins, and ongoing support. The goal isn’t just short-term results. It’s helping people truly understand their bodies, rebuild confidence, shift their mindset, and create lasting changes they can maintain for life.
Alongside that, I recently launched my training app, Dynami, which makes strength training and nutrition support more accessible. It’s designed for people who want expert programming they can follow on their own time, with workouts that are efficient, effective, and fit into a busy schedule.
What sets me apart is that I’ve lived this journey myself. I know what it feels like to struggle with food, body image, and finding time to exercise. My coaching combines real-world experience with expert knowledge, which allows me to connect with clients on a deeper level.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of creating a space that makes people feel empowered instead of restricted, where they learn that they don’t have to give up the foods they love or sacrifice time with their family to reach their goals.
At the heart of everything I do, I want people to know this: lasting results don’t come from punishment or perfection. They come from building a healthier, stronger lifestyle that you can actually enjoy. That’s what my brand stands for, and that’s what both my coaching and my app deliver.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that might surprise people is how much I love to travel. In college, I studied abroad in Australia and that sparked my travel bug. Since then I’ve traveled to South Africa many times, explored Bali, visited several countries in Europe, and other places. For me, travel isn’t just about seeing new places. It’s about being immersed in different cultures, learning how people live, and bringing that perspective back into my own life. I think it’s given me an open-mindedness that shows up in how I coach and connect with people from all walks of life.
