Community Highlights: Meet Braxton Po of POVSNco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Braxton Po.

Hi Braxton, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved movies and animation. Some of my earliest memories are waking up early on weekends to watch Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, and Cartoon Network. As I got older, one of my favorite things to do was go to the movie theater with my dad. Those experiences sparked a passion for storytelling that has stayed with me ever since.

The person who had the biggest influence on my decision to pursue filmmaking was my grandfather, a former trailer editor for Disney. I vividly remember visiting his office with my younger brother. While my brother would quickly get bored, I was completely fascinated. I could sit for hours watching him edit, asking questions, and soaking up everything I could learn. Whenever he had the chance, he would bring me into the office, giving me a firsthand look at the filmmaking process. One of my favorite memories was getting the opportunity to help edit the ending sequence for National Treasure—an experience that made the dream of working in film feel real.

How I Got to Where I Am Today

Getting to where I am today has been the result of years of consistency, dedication, and a willingness to keep learning. I spent countless hours refining my craft, taking on new challenges, and improving my skills with every project.

Just as important has been the relationships I’ve built along the way. One of the biggest turning points in my career came through an internship, where I had the privilege of working alongside an incredibly talented group of creatives. Those connections opened the door to meeting more professionals throughout Chicago’s media industry, many of whom have trusted me with exciting opportunities and helped shape the career I have today.

I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has believed in me along the way. Every project, collaboration, and challenge has helped me grow. Not just as a filmmaker, but as a storyteller committed to creating work that connects with people and leaves a lasting impact.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has the journey been smooth? Yes and no.

Right after graduating from college, it felt like everything fell into place. I landed opportunities that gave me a strong start and helped shape the career I’ve built so far. Looking back, though, I realize those opportunities weren’t just luck, they were the result of the relationships I built, the projects I invested my time in, and the effort I put into networking throughout college.

As I’ve grown professionally, I’ve learned that this industry is constantly changing. Media evolves so quickly that you’re always expected to adapt, learn new skills, and sometimes even reinvent yourself. In many ways, it can feel like starting over.

But I don’t see that as a bad thing.

Those moments of change have pushed me to grow both creatively and professionally. They’ve taught me to stay curious, embrace new challenges, and never become complacent. Every obstacle has made me more adaptable, resilient, and better prepared for whatever comes next. In an industry that never stands still, I believe the ability to evolve is one of the most valuable skills you can have.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
