Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Fisher and Lisa Thompson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Beth – I was an educator for 17 years, the last 13 as a school counselor. I really enjoyed connecting with my students but found myself in the last few years looking for a change.
During the course of selling two homes and buying another, my experience with Lisa as my agent sparked an interest in real estate. So, I put my focus on getting licensed, and in May 2021, I resigned from education and focused full-time on real estate!
Lisa- I was a classroom teacher for 32 years in Kansas, mostly teaching English and Social Studies in grades 6-9. Teaching Middle School was definitely my calling, and I absolutely loved my students, but I was feeling like I needed to try something new. My friends and family thought that I would make a great realtor and encouraged me to go in this direction.
I started in Real Estate 6 years ago as a dual career agent for 1 year, then retired from education, and jumped into my second career full-time for the past 5 years. Real estate is all about connecting with people and “teaching” them the process of buying and selling so all of my prior skills have been put to good use!
This was one of the best decisions I have made in my life, and I absolutely love and am proud of all that I have accomplished to build a thriving business.
In the past year, Beth and I discussed forming a team. We knew that we would work well together since we worked at the same school for many years. Our goals and values are so similar, and we focus on providing the best customer service and are dedicated to making a positive buying and selling experience for our clients.
I am so excited to see what the future holds for KCLisa Team!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Beth – Entering the real estate world during this market has definitely had its struggles! I’m running my own business, which is completely different from being a school counselor, but my focus for my business is the same as it was when I was an educator: Building relationships!
Lisa- As with building any business or starting a new job, there is so much to learn! Even today, I devote time to educating myself to stay up with the latest trends and technology in dealing with our ever-changing industry. The first year was a bit slow, but I learned again that my organizational skills associated with teaching would benefit my new business.
Every day, I wake up with a plan to succeed, and this mindset has helped me to become successful. I also realized that stepping out of my comfort zone would be necessary to flourish in real estate. This is a referral-based business, and it is important to let everyone in your sphere know this.
I am so thankful for everyone that sends business my way, and I work with absolutely amazing clients!
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Beth: I married my high school sweetheart, but not in the traditional manner. We broke up when I went to college and after a 7 year break, we reconnected and have now been married for almost 12 years!
