Community Highlights: Meet Apollo Ludeman of Apollo Photography KC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Apollo Ludeman.

Hi Apollo , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m just a nerdy kid from a low income community in the middle of Missouri that most people have never heard of. My first camera was a Polaroid with flash cubes! And I don’t remember ever taking any amazing pictures or even what happened to the camera but I remember feeling cool my father and his brothers always seemed to know about cameras and even computers and I looked up to them. In Junior high I was a member of the West Junior high School yearbook club where I got to use a camcorder and learn some real basics that I soon forgot once I discovered girls and how much they liked guys that got in trouble! It wasn’t until I started having my own family that I regained my interest in photography and even then I didn’t think of myself as a photographer but I have always bought phones based on the camera quality and technology admittedly with out giving it much though I just wanted good pictures of our family and cool cars if I happened to run into one out in the wild. But in recent years the kids got older and I had been searching for a new path and it was my amazing wife Rose who casually said…”You should do photography!” A that has put me on a path that I honestly never imagined for myself but I’m still at the beginning of this new path but I’m beyond excited for the journey .

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We all face struggles and mine are not anything special. In the last ten years I have had two heart attacks and have been fitted with a pacemaker/defibrillator a procedure that temporarily caused my to die… Temporarily! But I often credit that experience with my drive and passion for all the things that I’m doing whether it’s photography or social media or anything that I do in my life

As you know, we’re big fans of Apollo Photography KC . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My photography business is really becoming focused on candid moments my I really enjoy shooting concerts and car shows and events I don’t really focus on portraits and things of that nature there’s a lot of people doing that and that’s great but that’s not really what sparks my interest. I love to be in a moment and capturing it forever.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice to anyone interested in photography is to simply to just take action! I try to tell anyone I meet that we can do anything but nothing.
