Community Highlights: Meet Anna Fosberg of Anna’s Puppy Parlor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Fosberg.

Hi Anna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My love for animals started when I was a little girl. I was the kid who brought home strays and dreamed of becoming a zoologist one day. Even back then, caring for animals felt natural to me — it was where my heart felt safest.
My childhood wasn’t easy. I grew up experiencing abuse and spent time in and out of foster care with my brothers. When we were finally reunited, we lost our mom when I was just 17 years old. There were many moments when the odds felt stacked against us, and not many people expected us to build successful lives.
But I decided my story wouldn’t end there.
At 20 years old, I began training as a dog groomer in a small town in Wisconsin. Not long after, I moved back to Kansas City to officially start my grooming career — and I’ve been dedicated to this work ever since. What began as a love for animals became not only my profession, but the foundation for the life I would build.
Through hard work, perseverance, and an incredible support system, I changed my mindset and chose to prove the world wrong. My brothers and I both did. Today, I couldn’t be more proud of how far we’ve come.
I’m now a mother of five amazing children, and everything I do is rooted in creating stability, love, and opportunity for them. This career didn’t just give me a job — it gave me purpose, independence, and the ability to break cycles.
Animals have always been my passion. Grooming is more than just a service to me — it’s care, trust, patience, and connection. It’s the same compassion that carried me through my own journey.
This is more than a career. It’s the life I fought to build.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As I had mentioned previously, I have had many struggles including a lot of deaths, poor relationships, a bad childhood, plus more. I don’t want to put too much or I’d never stop writing. But I think the hardest part of it was learning to change my mindset, jumping out of my comfort zones, and just trusting the process.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a dog groomer whose motto is “patience is key.” I believe in having a safe and calm environment for the dogs. I offer haircuts and baths. I’m proud of the skill I have developed and I hope to learn more one day!

What does success mean to you?
I define success by the amount of joy you can collect in the moments rather than the money you make. My version of success is having a healthy and happy family.
