Community Highlights: Meet Allison Jacobson of Knead Bread Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Jacobson

Hi Allison, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My love for cooking started out watching my Grandma cook for everyone. She always had such a passion for making sure everyone was fed a good, home cooked meal. I learned a lot from her and now with my own family I love to do the same. We have always loved sourdough and I knew making it at home had to be better than buying from the store. I started baking my own bread in November of 2023. Shortly after I started, my husband suggested I start selling it for fun. I decided to post on facebook to see if any friends or family were interested and from there it really took off. Before I knew it, I was getting weekly orders and selling out of any extra loaves I had. From there, I have started taking orders via my website, doing pop ups, and adding more items to my menu.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing a business always has its learning curves. I’ve had to learn when to say no to certain opportunities, scale my business quickly, and not let work consume my family life.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business, Knead Bread Co., is a sourdough micro bakery. I specialize in all kinds of sourdough baked goods. Everything I make, from my sweet pastries to my savory breads, includes sourdough starter (a wild yeast culture). My business has been a labor of love and I’m so proud of how I’ve grown it in such a short period of time.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I started my business after the COVID-19 crisis, so I don’t believe this affected my business.
