Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Suter.
Hi Tyler, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The act of creation has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. My parents would take my sister and I to art museums and encourage us to paint and draw at home. Growing up in a family of trade workers, we were also encourages to build things, mostly ramps to skate or tree houses. My passion for art was reignited in college where I saw examples of people creating for a living and decided to dive head first into this path.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not, I don’t believe there is a smooth road in life. I have struggled with balancing life with my practice and it has cost me relationships and sanity. That being said I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m truly blessed to wake up and make my art each day.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Currently I draw inspiration from SEM images of organic materials, oscillating chemical reactions and the patterns created in mediums under the influence of different frequencies. I work with many mediums. I find myself working out ideas in pen and paint, but my mind works best in a 3D mode. Glass and ceramic have been my main mediums but I work with anything to bring my ideas to life.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
