Check Out Tessie Moreno’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tessie Moreno.

Hi Tessie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always loved Photography. My creativity started in front of the camera, modeling for other photographers, but then I wanted to be the one behind the camera. I really began my photography journey in early 2017 by practicing photography on my newborn daughter as she grew and changed every month. It helped me develop the skills and really understand how images can capture a moment in time that we want to remember forever.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s a lot of competition in the Photography world, especially around Kansas City. And some years are also better than others. Luckily I have a lot of friends and family who continue to use me year after year which makes me very grateful. Especially getting to photograph their children and see them grow through my camera lens.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I photograph just about anything. Family sessions, newborns, maternity, Senior portraits, weddings, boudoir, and have even photographed a couple births. I like when people come to me with a vision and being able to create it. And on the occasion, I have a vision and will do model calls to create the images.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
In the beginning, I didn’t have a formal mentor. I learned through a lot of self-education, practice, and observing photographers I admired. As I grew more confident in my work, I joined a Facebook group of other local photographers and began networking that way.
