Today we’d like to introduce you to Shonta Dabney.
Hi Shonta, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have worked in the Medical Field for most of my life. As a youth , I was told this was the industry that would be in consistent growth mode. So, there was always a chance for employment.
Being a single mother of two children from East St. Louis, IL, I had to be able to provide for them. I made the decision to pursue Laboratory Positions.
I am currently working in the medical field full time while managing my business part time. My goal is to have my business my main focus where it can either support or exceed my current income from my full time job.
I currently stay in Kansas City, Missouri. During the time of my Career, Coffee became a part of my daily regimen.
I’ve always had a fascination with coffee; the different brews, the mechanics behind making it and the areas in which it is grown and processed. However, it wasn’t until my move to Kansas City, MO where coffee became a part of my daily regimen. Over time, I would say I’ve become somewhat of an aficionado.
I grew up drinking coffee as a kid. Through the years, I have become an Expert on Coffee.
As I got older, I learned the different Regions and how it was grown. My kids are now older and my number one priority is their education. Education is important to me, I value it. Another thing I value is being able to leave my children a Legacy.
I want them to have something to remember me by more than just being their mother.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey that I am currently on has been one of a winding road. That’s due to me not speaking up and asking more questions in the beginning stages of starting a business. I believe anything will be considered challenging when you’re unfamiliar with the process. It’s up to you to take that challenge and make it work for you.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently work for the University of Kansas Health System. I have worked in the Medical Field majority of my life mostly inside the Lab in different medical facilities .
Most Medical jobs offer free coffee. I believe that is when I fell in love for the hot beverage. Over the years it has motivated me to have my own coffee brand.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was me drinking Folgers with my grandmother and watching Saturday Morning Cartoons.
