Check Out Sha-Ron Turner’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sha-Ron Turner

Hi Sha-Ron, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a wife, mother, DJ, Nurse, influencer, sports podcaster and all around lover of life. I’m completely immersed in all things mentioned. So I am a busy woman!

As a kid I grew up around music. My dad was a singer and has incredible taste in music. He would play music when we rode around, family gatherings, or just to introduce my siblings and I to what and who he thought was great! Some of my best memories are watching my mom and dad dance as a kid. They’d put us to bed, go in the living room and dance together to all of the music that I love, today. I would sneak and watch them sometimes. Many of those memories drive my taste. So, my music selection as a DJ is so wide that I’ve been able to carve out an incredible place for myself as a DJ. I’ve been an DJ since 2010. I was one of the first DJ’s to kick off the now booming population of female DJ’s in the KC metro area. I love them all. We’ve created a community and are resources to each other. It’s the coolest thing.

I went to the University of Missouri-Columbia “MIZ!”, where I studied nursing. I later graduated and worked at the University of Kansas medical Center for several years before going corporate. I eventually landed a Nursing position with my favorite sports team in the world. The Kansas City Chiefs. I was one of the key players in running the COVID-19 protocol in 2020-2021 That helped our team stay healthy and play. I now work with them in fan development. My experience with the chiefs has been awesome. I’m looking forward to receiving my first Superbowl ring this summer. Go Chiefs!!!

I’ll be Married for 12 years in October. My husband is likely the coolest and most creative person on the planet. I love what we have. I also have 2 amazing children(son: Holsey IV and Skylar)and a bonus child(Zoe) that I love dearly. They all drive so much of what I do.

All of these things mentioned truly inspire the recent boom I’ve had in the influencer world. The last few years have been a ride.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like with anything, there is the good and bad. I’d say with DJing specifically, some of the obstacles I had to overcome were being respected and receiving appropriate pay. When I came on the scene there weren’t a ton of female DJ’s in the city. So, I had to break down a few barriers and deal directly with promoters that sometimes didn’t respect female DJ’s as much and would try to undercut my pay or not focus on the task at hand, if you follow what I’m saying. Overtime… They all fell in line once I created my own wave. People saw that I was skilled.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Professionally: I’m a registered nurse that works with the KC chiefs. I work with their youth and community specific events and gameday activities

What do I do and am known for: I’m a well respected DJ in the KC area, I’m a co-host on the 3rd N One Sports podcast where we talk chiefs football and current events. I’m a lifestyle influencer. I document all aspects of my life(family, DJ, work, humor, style, clothing, etc).

I’m most proud of being a mom and still being able to pursue the things that I love. I’m happy that my children get to see that they can still have the balance of family and success.

I believe what makes me unique is that I’ve been blessed to experience upper progression in every position I’ve held. I started out as a bedside nurse and ended up as an assistant director for a healthcare organization, which led to me becoming a site supervisor with the Kansas City chiefs and eventually a permanent employee with the organization. I’ve experienced being one of the first black female DJ’s to be known in the city and DJ at concerts for artists such as 2 chainz and Juvenile. Even in my social media work I’ve been able to experience great success in a small amount of time. none of these things are what I ever expected I would achieve in my life time. I say that to say that anyone that believes in themselves, works hard, and can push through the norms can be great. The sky is truly the limit!!

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I have various areas that can be supported. Most are driven through my Instagram page @djdiamonddiva. A follow and a bit of engagement would be awesome. Influencer collaborations and marketing opportunities are welcomed. And certainly book me as your DJ for your next event!
