Today we’d like to introduce you to Paw V.
Hi Paw, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It’s kind of a two partner. I was living in Ocala, FL at the time when I received a phone call from a good friend of mine. Met with the news that a friend had passed away due to an overdose at the age of 27. Which naturally brought up fond memories. While Reminiscing, I thought about the very last time we saw each other. I remember riding in the backseat of his girlfriend’s car (being the third wheel) driving down the highway listening to the radio. Everyone was singing along to the tunes. When I made a comment, “I can do that.” An argument ensued with him saying. “Well, why don’t you do it then!” Years later, I got that phone call which drove me to write my very first song ever “Catch the Dragon” inspired by the moments I was going through during that time in my life. Years passed, Never thought anything of it. I found myself working for a tourist shop called Florida Oranges. When a friend walks up on me one night. one I hadn’t seen in years. I just started to close the shop. Naturally, we started to catching up when he mentions that he just won a spot to perform on a Platform called Coast 2 Coast where you had to compete and be judged for a contest. Interesting to say the least but he wasn’t sure he wanted to do it. About a week went by. Then on January 2nd, 2018 I told him lets get you on that stage. We had two weeks to the date until the show. I told him I would do it with him. But the only way was making the entire song from the ground up. He agreed. We placed 4th out of 16 Acts and for the first two weeks of my brand new life, I put my all into music. What can I say? I got bit by the bug. Afterwards, I saw the potential that I could be even better. So I started out with the goal of making one song a week.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Haha. Umm no…. Not at all. To create music, I soon found myself alienating everyone around me including my own family. I picked up a nasty drug habit to help aid me while trying to hold down a full-time job and having a family and making music. Which didn’t work to say the least. The music always had to come first, bar none. So when I found my job getting in the way I quit. Then my family needed my attention. Which again took me away from the music. So selfishly, I left them behind on a pursuit to follow my own wild-eyed dreams. To where I’ve been met with addiction, depression, loneliness. As well as going through my fair share of legal problems. All while trying to keep the music alive inside myself. I couldn’t let go. I gave up everything I’ve known in my adult life for a crazy dream. Praying somehow I could be part of the Music industry.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m most proud of completing my 1st Demo Album. In the world that I came from, I got ridiculed and met with rejection every step of the way. But when I completed those first 15 songs. I cried when I realized I had done something I only ever dreamed about. I never thought I’d record one song. Let alone enough songs to put a cd together. What sets me apart from other? That’s a really good question. I don’t know. Originality maybe. I couldn’t tell you that. I don’t really focus on what others are doing unless they already done it. I feel every artist should learn from other artists. So if I see something, I like I may use it subconsciously. I create most of my works purely off vibe and a lot of freestyling sessions.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m pretty much an open book. I’m a creature of habit. So I’m usually doing the same things all the time. If I had to think hard on it. I would say that I did have one other dream in life. That was to become an Olympian in the sports of swimming and/or diving. During my youth, I was pretty good even winning a state title.
