Hi Pam, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It all started as a gift-a gift given by a friend, a gift given to others, a gift of retirement, a gift of family. We began offering 2 delectable flavored of gourmet infused pretzels in 2014 and now have expanded to 5 addicting gourmet infused pretzels, seasonal favorites, dipped & decorated rods, and spices to take your dishes up a few notches!
We love our “retail location” on TJ weekends at The City Market for 11 years, have grown organically to craft breweries, neighborhood gathering locations, provide private labeling, fundraisers, wholesale pricing, online ordering and looking at franchising in the future.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running a small business in the food industry is not an easy road. The margins are low, the costs are high, the competition is fierce. It’s challenging to raise a family, working a full time job and running a business takes a lot of time and energy. We lost a lot of customers during COVID, but we stayed in the game and are stronger for that challenge. When people from 3 years old give us 2 thumbs up 👍 or people remember having our pretzels from several years ago, our brand recognition is awesome!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Every career has lead me to another opportunity, another field, another new experience. Although I had college professors encourage me to get into education, I didn’t open myself up to that industry and found my passion until I had children. Over 21 years was spent in the educational fields -from pre-school all the way to college. Working in a wide variety of industries has lead me to this time in my life-full time commitment in our small business.
What’s next?
We are working to expand our customer base through all our avenues. We are really looking forward to FIFA in Kansas City this year and excited to find more possibilities to bring unique snacks for the World Cup!
We also will be looking at franchising opportunities and, who knows, exporting??!!
