Today we’d like to introduce you to Oluwatobi Temitope Adeleke.
Oluwatobi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up in Ibadan, Nigeria, cooking was not anything I saw as a chore. I enjoyed doing it and would even do so for free, for family and friends.
After graduating from university, I still enjoyed cooking and trying out new recipes even though I had a full-time job. Cooking is my happy place, and in 2015, I decided to take the plunge and monetize my knowledge.
What started as a canapé and houdourve’s company (what we like to call small chops in Nigeria) quickly boomed into a full-fledged catering business and to full meal needs at events beyond finger foods.
Upon my relocation to America in May 2018, once I settled in Kansas City Missouri, I knew I had to introduce my authentic take on Nigerian dishes to the audience here. With the help of my husband, we started taking orders from friends, church members, and co-workers, etc.
Today, we have moved beyond Missouri to shipping food to other parts of America, and we look forward to spreading our genuine love for authentic Nigerian cuisine to other customers
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been the easiest ride. I am the CEO “Chief Everything Officer”, and constantly having to wear multiple hats can be draining . Finding capable hands who are passionate about cooking is a struggle, nonetheless my husband has been my rock and biggest cheerleader. Asides from that, I have had to take multiple breaks to care for my health, especially as my family grew with two beautiful children.
In all of this, I have discovered new talents and learned new things on my journey to myself. I will not have had it any other way.
This journey has been worth it, and I look forward to what life holds in store with a full heart. I am humbled by the love our Teetasty lover’s shower on us when they receive their orders, and I look forward to becoming better for them.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in making Nigerian Dishes for individuals, families, private events ,corporate events etc . Whatever meal you eat from our kitchen immediately transports you ‘home’; to happy memories, people, and laughter.
We offer a genuine taste of ‘home’ without leaving your couch here in America. For dishes, we make Amala, gbegiri and Ewedu, shawarma wraps, Asun, Egusi, Banga Soup, Smokey Jollof, Ero riro, Moin moin, and any other Nigerian meal you can think of.
We carefully source each ingredient to ensure the preservation of our rich culture and the memories that are associated with it.
We are intentional with every meal. We put in the love and effort to ensure that the consumer experience is always excellent.
So far, it has paid off and we are excited to share our meals with more people.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We will find that as consumer taste evolves, so will food preferences. I remember some years back, Gizdodo started out as a thing! and people wanted it at events, trust us to be on the forefront, pushing the agenda and making this available at events and private serves. The key is to be open to innovative ideas and experiment with new recipes.
While we pride ourselves on understanding the fundamentals and consistently delivering on the same (all our customers have told us this), we stay open to learning more and delivering on the best version.
We will evolve our menu as the consumer’s taste evolves.
This is how we know we will be around for a very long time and hopefully for generations. We dream big around here.
