Today we’d like to introduce you to Nosa Eke.
Hi Nosa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Sounds By Sa, Inc. is the brand behind the popular event series Summers Like This, Can We Kick It?, The Wine Down, SoundsBySa Radio, and more. Since 2018, Sounds By Sa has produced live music, artist talks, parties, networking events, and more targeting professionals of color in the Chicago, KC, & the New York City markets among others.
Our tagline, “Heart of the Culture” is derived from us striving to always create Afrocentric events that evoke feeling. The brand is centered around sounds that display the musical impact that artists & creators of color have on the culture.
We are the home of Sounds By Sa Radio, a weekly radio show connecting us with DJs, artists, & producers from all over the globe. Feeding the world “music that moves you” weekly. The brand started from a trip to my native country, Nigeria. I felt inspired and excited from hearing the sounds of afrobeats on the 2017 trip. With that, I purchased my first DJ board in the winter of 2017 and the rest was history. The official brand Sounds By Sa came about in 2018 and expanded beyond live events. It’s grew into a social breeding ground for creatives to express themselves.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been far from a smooth road thus far. We still struggle daily with several things but feel that this journey has been so gratifying as we’ve learned a lot along the way. Finances were our number one struggle for some time but we’ve been able to secure a little bit of financing in the last year that’s helped a bit. Learning the ropes of the entertainment business has also been a big learning curve. Figuring out how we operate internally was a struggle and we’re still figuring it out as we speak. All in all, it’s been a lot but we’re getting better at things daily and that’s what matters. I can’t speak enough about how amazing the team is. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the individuals that have helped the brand grow in one way or another. Thank you to the amazing Sounds By Sa team:
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

We are the home of Sounds By Sa Radio, a weekly radio show that we started in the midst of the pandemic. It allowed us to give DJs a space to express themselves through music when all the spaces we’re accustomed to closed. It’s grown to become a global show and has allowed us to meet so many great people from various backgrounds. We have listeners and guest DJs/producers from the UK, Germany, Austria, Japan, Chicago, KC & more. It’s now led us to venture into streaming through YouTube and merchandise that will soon be available for purchase.
