Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Vavra.

Hi Nikki, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I’m Nikki Vavra, soon-to-be momma and owner of With Grace Pastries. I create artisan cakes that are delectable works of art. With over 12 years of baking and pastry experience, in 2021, I decided to start dabbling in cakes. I immediately fell in love. The ability to create each cake and make it unique intrigues me. I started making cakes for family and friends, and soon after, I realized how big of a market there was in KC for local custom cakes. That’s when I branched out and found new clients. In 2023 I branded my business and obtained my LLC. I cater to all occasions, Weddings, Birthdays, Showers, and events! Along with cakes, I offer cupcakes, dessert bars, and specialty desserts.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every great ambition often comes with struggles; I’ve had my fair share. The rising cost of ingredients was a huge battle; increasing the prices my customers had become accustomed to was challenging. I remember a point where butter was $6 a pound. It was a trying time to be profitable. Luckily, we are close to being back to normalcy with costs on products.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve recently started to specialize in wedding cakes. Participating in multiple styled shoots this last year has opened a window of opportunity to meet other local wedding vendors and a new type of client. One thing that sets me apart from others is my combination of artistry and taste. When people think of decorated cakes, it’s common to assume they are pretty and not tasteful. I make it my primary focus to ensure the flavor shines just as much as the decor.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Always stay true to myself, my style, and follow my intuition.
