Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Santoyo.
Monique, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised on the Kansas City, Kansas side, and even though I now live in Las Vegas, Kansas City will always feel like home to me. Family and community have always been very important in my life, and that has played a big role in the business we’ve built.
A few years ago, my other half, Charlie, and I started a mobile notary business in Las Vegas with the goal of building something flexible, service-driven, and meaningful. What started as a small local service quickly grew as we realized how much people truly need reliable mobile notaries who are willing to come to them.
One of the most rewarding parts of this work is that we get to help people during some of the most important moments in their lives. Sometimes it’s exciting moments like someone closing on their home, and other times it’s more emotional situations, like helping families in hospitals with power of attorney documents or last wills and testaments. Being able to show up for people in those moments and make the process easier for them is something I take a lot of pride in.
As the business grew in Las Vegas, it was always a dream of mine to expand back to Kansas City since that’s where I’m from and where most of my family still lives. We were able to make that happen by building a family-driven team there. My best friend Katie, along with a few of my sisters, help run our Kansas City mobile notary operations, which makes it even more special because it truly feels like something we’ve built together as a family.
Today, we continue to grow our mobile notary services while focusing on professionalism, reliability, and compassion for the people we serve. Our long-term goal is to expand into multiple cities while still keeping that personal, family-oriented approach that has been the heart of our business from the beginning.
For me, it’s never just about notarizing documents — it’s about helping people through important moments in their lives while building something meaningful for our family and community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was getting our Kansas City Mobile Notary business up and running while I was still living in Las Vegas. Not being there physically to train my best friend Katie and my sisters, Alenia and Lindy, made things a lot more difficult in the beginning.
Charlie and I were handling a lot remotely — setting up and managing Google Ads, answering phone calls, responding to emails, scheduling appointments, and making sure everything was running smoothly in Kansas City while also continuing to run our Las Vegas mobile notary business. There were definitely some stressful moments trying to balance it all.
Building a business in another city requires a lot of trust, communication, and patience. There was a learning curve for everyone as we figured out systems, scheduling, and how to provide the same level of service that we had built our reputation on in Las Vegas.
The rewarding part now is seeing everything start to run more smoothly. Katie has really stepped into her role and taken on more responsibility, and it’s been wonderful watching her experience the rewarding side of this work — helping people during important moments in their lives. Seeing the team grow and gain confidence makes all the early challenges worth it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I own and operate a mobile notary service, which means we travel directly to our clients to notarize important documents. We specialize in a variety of services including real estate loan signings, power of attorney documents, wills and estate paperwork, and general notarizations for individuals and businesses. Our goal is to make the notarization process as convenient and stress-free as possible by meeting people wherever they are — whether that’s their home, office, hospital, or even a coffee shop.
One thing that really sets our business apart is the personal approach we take. We’re a family-driven company, and that care shows in the way we treat our clients. Many times we are helping people during very important moments in their lives — from closing on a new home to handling sensitive family matters like power of attorney or end-of-life documents. Being able to show up for people during those moments and make the process easier for them is something I take a lot of pride in.
I’m especially proud of building a business that now operates in multiple cities. My other half, Charlie, and I started our mobile notary business in Las Vegas, and as it grew, I was able to expand it to Kansas City, where I was born and raised. My best friend Katie and several of my sisters now help run our Kansas City operations, which makes it incredibly meaningful because it truly is a family effort.
What sets us apart is our reliability, professionalism, and the relationships we build with our clients. Many of our customers become repeat clients because they know they can count on us to show up, communicate clearly, and handle their documents with care. At the end of the day, it’s not just about notarizing paperwork — it’s about providing a service people can trust.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along this journey is how powerful it can be to build something with the people you care about. Being able to bring my best friend Katie in as a partner and watch her grow into an entrepreneur has been incredibly rewarding. It has also been meaningful to provide additional income opportunities for my sisters, Alenia and Lindy, and hopefully inspire them that one day they could build something of their own if they choose to.
Another big lesson has been understanding how important our role can be for the people we serve. From the very first phone call, we often hear what someone is going through, and sometimes those situations can be very emotional or difficult. Whether it’s helping someone finalize important documents in a hospital or assisting with time-sensitive paperwork, we try to approach every appointment with patience, professionalism, and compassion.
Katie has already seen firsthand that many of these moments can be heartbreaking, but being able to show up and make the process a little easier for someone is very meaningful to us. Knowing our clients can depend on us to handle their documents correctly and treat them with care is something we take a lot of pride in.
At the end of the day, the biggest lesson has been that business isn’t just about the service you provide — it’s about the people you help along the way.
