Check Out Micheala Driskell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Micheala Driskell.

Hi Micheala, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After graduating from Rockhurst University with degrees in Biochemistry and Psychology, I knew my path would involve working closely with children and families. I’ve always been drawn to making a difference, educating parents on important health issues and equipping them with the tools and confidence to raise healthy, happy kids. Throughout high school and college, I spent my time nannying, lifeguarding, teaching swim lessons, tutoring, and working with children with special needs. Kids have always had a special place in my heart, and connecting with them came naturally.
As I was applying to medical schools, I took a job at Emler Swim School to stay involved in something meaningful during the process. What I found was more than just a job, I found a mission and a community. Emler wasn’t just teaching swim lessons; it was changing lives. The company’s dedication to its team and to the families it served stood out in a powerful way. I fell in love with the work, the culture, and the impact. Especially in a region where drowning remains the leading cause of accidental death for children under five, I realized the value of what we were doing every day.
That passion led me down a new path as General Manager of our Westwood, KS location, then Regional Director for our schools in Kansas City, Indiana, and Boston. With a new location on the horizon in Wichita, KS, I’m excited to continue helping children learn life-saving skills while supporting families and building community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like anyone, the journey hasn’t always been smooth. There have been defining moments that challenged me but also shaped who I am today. Early in my career, I lost my dad – a moment that taught me a lot about grief, perspective, and gratitude. Grief comes in waves, but it’s also deepened my appreciation for the people I love and reminded me to build a life I truly enjoy. Then came the pandemic. Like many, we had to completely rethink how we operated. It was tough, but we came out the other side stronger with new systems, fresh perspectives, and a team that adapted in ways I’m really proud of. And of course, becoming a mom to my two beautiful boys has been both the greatest joy and a big adjustment. Balancing motherhood and a growing career hasn’t always been easy, but it’s pushed me to grow in ways I never expected. Every challenge has added something meaningful to this journey.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Regional Director for Emler Swim School, I oversee 8–10 locations across Kansas City, Wichita, Indiana, and Boston. This includes guiding leadership teams, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring each school delivers a high-quality, joyful swim experience for families. What sets my work apart is a deep commitment to people—developing leaders, connecting with families, and nurturing a culture of empathy, innovation, and fun. My goal and vision is to always lead with empathy, bring joy to others each day, and embrace changes and create new things. I’m proud to be part of a woman-founded organization that was started by Jan Emler in 1975, and has grown to over 69 locations while staying true to its mission. Personally, I take pride in the growth I’ve experienced (both professionally and personally) as I’ve leaned into leadership, built confidence, and found fulfillment in the impact we make every day. Whether it’s supporting a team’s development or jumping into the pool to teach a lesson, I believe in leading with heart and creating the kind of experience that leaves a lasting impression.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Absolutely, I wouldn’t be where I am today without an incredible support system. My husband has been a constant source of encouragement, always balancing the pursuit of our dreams while being an amazing partner and parent. Our families, especially our parents, have also played a huge role in supporting us along the way. Professionally, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors and teammates who have helped shape my journey. One standout is my Regional Vice President, Devan Tovar, who has been a guiding force throughout my 10+ years at Emler. Her leadership, motivation, and belief in me have been invaluable. I’ve also shared this journey closely with my friend and colleague Jordan Eichenlaub. We’ve grown together throughout our careers at Emler, and today she’s thriving as the General Manager of our Northland location. And then of course, all the teams at each of my locations are the driving force behind what we provide, and have been amazing. These people have not only supported my growth but have made the entire experience more meaningful.
