Hi Melissa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Melissa Butcher, I’m a wife, mom to 2 daughters, and a salon owner. I have been in the beauty industry since 2004. I love this industry, its truly one of the best. We get to make people feel beautiful and that is the most amazing feeling. I opened The Hair Room a little over 6 years ago, we started off in a 2 station salon suite and have since expanded into a salon with 6 stations and a private room that houses 7 stylists and 2 aestheticians. Watching my stylists and aestheticians grow their businesses is something I truly enjoy, seeing others thrive brings me so much happiness. Each and every one of them helps make The Hair Room what it is today! I also have the best clients in the world! They come to me with so much trust, they let me try new things to help perfect my craft, I am truly one of the luckiest people in the world!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Does anyone have a smooth road?!? I always say nothing worth having doesn’t need to be worked for! I can tend to be a people pleaser so I’m constantly working on that. Don’t get me wrong, I want people to be happy but when it doesn’t benefit myself or the people around me, I’m working on standing my ground. Surrounding myself with people who have the same mindset and goals has helped me a TON!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a stylist and salon owner. I love cutting and coloring, specifically blonding. I love when a client leaves my chair feeling refreshed and confident! I also love helping my stylists and aestheticians through their businesses. In this industry we are constantly learning and evolving! I am most proud of the community I have created. From everyone who works at the salon to the clients that come in, we are all truly invested in one another! What sets us apart from others is our “care factor”. From the moment you step into the salon, your experience will be beyond your expectations because our team genuinely CARES about you and your hair/skin concerns. It is our job to make you feel your absolute BEST!
