Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa McConnell

Hi Lisa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey started with a love for parties and events! I enjoy curating everything from planning, designing, creating decor, to the final reveal of executing my clients visions. Boss Babe Balloon Co was formed as I saw a need in the Kansas City area for a one stop shop for everything party related.. After almost 3 years in business I expanded services to include a micro event space named Confetti Corner which serves as the perfect spot to host your events!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitley not always been a smooth road, Running 2 businesses is not an easy task, I’ve learned I cannot control every aspect of everything and to be more flexible. I’ve been open to learning, soaking up every bit of knowledge and advice from my peers who are also entreprenuers. It helps to surround yourself with like minded individuals.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in custom balloon decor, backdrops, event rentals, and an event space to host all of your events at. What sets us apart from others is the commitment to customer service. COMMUNICATION is key! I’ve been told numerous times that our quick response time and thorough attention to detail has been appreciated. Our numerous reviews reflect that as well. I know what its like to try and plan an event and there is nothing worse then not getting a response from a vendor in a timely manner. Its frustrating to say the least. I strive to make good and detailed communication a priority.
I am extremely proud of everything I have accomplished. Its crazy to look back at how I grew this organically into something so big! We have been named Best Balloon Company two years in a row 2023-2024 from KC Engaged and were nominated in 7 categories for the Wed KC Vendor Choice Awards 2025 and wound up being finalist in 2 categories. We also were part of some very important and impactful events this past year that included a 1200 count balloon drop for the 15 & The Mahomies Foundation Gala. We have made so many meaningful connections in the Kansas City community and hope to make even more this year!

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
The most surprising thing by far is that I don’t drink ANY CAFFEINE!!! People don’t believe me when I say I don’t but its true. So when I’m asked to meet for coffee I laugh and say of course I will, but I don’t drink coffee! I’m honestly not really sure where the energy comes from but I ‘d like to say its all my drive and passion for my business. I may be tired, but I will never show it, You just gotta keep going!
