Check Out Leah Hooks’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Hooks.

Hi Leah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My father being a Pastor started my journey. At the age of 17 I became a Praise and Worship Leader, currently holding a Minister of Music position. I have performed background vocals for Stage Plays, Concerts, and Church affiliated services for over 20 years. However now I am the lead vocalist for an all female trio called SheGroove.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Challenges were finding my purpose in all of it. I am confident that by performing for others gives me a since of peace. Seeing others spirits light up while singing and receiving feedback that they were depressed before hearing me sing gives me a sense of fulfillment and joy. Learning how to sing through my pain, heartaches, and disappointments was also a great challenge but once I learn to do it, it helped others

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My specialty lies in church being a full time Minister of Music. I can teach manuals on Praise and Worship, teach parts, and lead songs. I love what I do and I love people. I am very patient, loving, understanding and have a listening ear in all aspects of my life.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Seeing others happy motivates me. I’ve been told my smile has changed their attitude and I sing from my soul which makes them receive whatever they need.
