Today we’d like to introduce you to KC Sips. 

Hello KC Sips, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Kc Sips started as just another random Instagram page. I started with the intention of putting my love for photography, iced coffee, and drinks all in one place for myself. I hadn’t even told my friends and family about my page until a month after I started it. I feel like I started to gain followers overnight and it was mind-blowing. Fast forward to May 2021 I had hit my first milestone, I had 1,000 followers. I partnered with two amazing local businesses to sponsor my first giveaway. Not much after that I started to get invited to “influencer” events, have different businesses reach out to me to collaborate and it truly felt like I was in a dream. As I started to gain more followers, I also started to get a lot of messages asking for recommendations. It felt so great to connect with other KC locals and share the places that I’ve had some amazing sips at. It all still feels so surreal, When I started my page 5 months ago, I never imagined having more than maybe 200 followers, let alone over 2,000. Somedays I wake up thinking it was all a dream but I am so thankful for my page because I have met and done some really cool things. If the first 5 months were this much fun, I can’t wait to see how Kc Sips will evolve in the next 6 months. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say about 85% of the road has been pretty smooth. I do this for fun and with each post brings back an even better memory that I had shared with my husband, family, or friends. 

The remaining 15% would be where I have struggled. Somedays I put too much pressure on myself. I want to stand out and be unique because there are so many great IG pages that are dedicated to food and drinks here in KC. It can be difficult to compare yourself to the next influencer. Social media is such a great place to connect with people but it is so easy get caught up in feeling like you aren’t enough. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think Kc Sips is different because it specializes in all the sips you can find around the KC metro area. I post anything between coffee and tequila drinks. One thing that stands out about Kc Sips is that no one truly knows who is behind the posts. I have attended events so of course, some people know. I enjoy having that anonymity because I want the drinks to speak for themselves. I don’t want special treatment because I am an “influencer”.
