Check Out Kassi Bracken’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kassi Bracken.

Hi Kassi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Kassi Bracken, the heart and lens behind Photos By Kassi B. My love for photography started in 2008 when I got my first digital camera and discovered the joy of capturing nature. That passion quickly grew into a love for portraits. In high school, I was part of the journalism and yearbook teams, often photographing football games, which gave me my first taste of storytelling through the lens.

After graduating in 2010, I earned a photography certificate and began working professionally while keeping photography as a creative passion. In 2019, just before COVID, I transitioned into a new career path in healthcare. While that chapter taught me a lot, I realized earlier this year that healthcare wasn’t the future I wanted to pursue. In May, I decided to return fully to photography — this time with a renewed purpose and vision, while also working toward my long-term goal of becoming a health coach.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey hasn’t always been easy. One of my biggest challenges has been allowing myself to be seen and putting myself out there — something that’s been especially difficult while navigating life with ADHD and PCOS. At times, those struggles made it harder to share my photography, but they’ve also given me resilience, empathy, and a deeper understanding of what it means to feel truly seen.

What many people don’t realize is just how personal and emotional the creative process really is. A final photo may look effortless, but behind it lies so much thought, heart, and vulnerability. Sharing your work means sharing a piece of yourself, and balancing that with the realities of making a living isn’t always simple.

For me, though, photography isn’t just about creating images — it’s about connecting with the person in front of the lens. That connection, and the opportunity to help someone feel confident, celebrated, and authentically seen, is what makes all the challenges worthwhile.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in natural light portrait photography, using only the sun to illuminate my sessions. There’s something timeless and honest about natural light — it allows me to capture soft, authentic, and unposed moments that feel warm and real. I serve Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and the surrounding areas, offering everything from boudoir and branding to couples, children, families, seniors, self-love portraits, and even pets.

What I’m most known for is creating sessions that feel natural, comfortable, and connected. I call my approach Easy, Honest Photography — built on simplicity, care, and connection. Whether you’re celebrating everyday moments, refreshing your brand, or choosing self-love behind the lens, my goal is to make the experience joyful and authentic so the images truly reflect who you are.

All sessions include a pre-session chat to help you feel prepared, a sneak peek within 48 hours for social sharing, and a full online gallery with print release delivered within 2 weeks. I also make it a priority to keep photography affordable and accessible, with fully edited digital images and print rights included in every session.

What I’m most proud of is the environment I’ve created for my clients. My sessions are not just about photos — they’re about connection, confidence, and care. I want every client to walk away feeling celebrated and truly seen. That’s what sets Photos By Kassi B apart: photography that’s not only creative but deeply personal, rooted in purpose and connection.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories are camping in nature with my family or spending summer days in the pool together. I’ve always loved being outside, and those moments taught me something important: nature allows us to just be. That sense of freedom and presence is what inspires me today in my photography. It’s why I specialize in natural light and outdoor sessions — because being surrounded by sunlight and nature creates space for people to relax, connect, and show up as their most authentic selves.
