Check Out Jordin Johnson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordin Johnson

Hi Jordin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved Champagne and bubbles – for the taste, the depth and the history. But also very much for what it represents. It represents love, celebrating, coming together with friends and family and leaning into gratitude. I went through some unexpected life pivots and it lead me to start thinking about doing something really big and fun and scary for myself. I took a trip to Italy and fell back in love with wine, the wine making process, the history, and really just life. I came back to my corporate job and realized I wanted to create a little slice of luxury with the beauty of Europe in an approachable, fun and modern way. And thus Blanc Champagne Bar was born!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It absolutely has not been smooth! I have built this business from the ground up. Stepping back into hospitality after being in the corporate world was a shock to my system. I wanted to bring a lot of the principals I have learned in my corporate jobs to the culture and operations of my restaurant. While I thought that would make a lot of sense, it hasn’t always. I’ve had to adapt back into hospitality (I grew up working in restaurants) while also pushing for change in a lot of areas. The industry in some ways is very stuck in their ways, so I am really working to infuse some really positive things into the four walls. Other challenges have included the street car construction being a literal barrier to my front door, making it hard for guests to have the ideal experience, financial challenges (woah starting a restaurant takes ALOT of capital), and the amount of sleepless nights I have endured. But it is all absolutely worth it when someone walks into Blanc and feels transported away from their day-to-day and can enjoy the space, company and share in wonderful food and bubbles!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the owner and founder of Blanc Champagne Bar in Midtown Kansas City. Blanc is a premier Champagne bar located in the heart of Kansas City. Dedicated to providing an exceptional experience, we offer an extensive selection of Champagnes and sparkling wine, gourmet pairings, and a chic and welcoming setting. Whether for a casual night out or a grand celebration, Blanc Champagne Bar is the perfect destination for all bubble lovers.

My goal is to create a space where celebration and gratitude are the norm. Where guests can explore Champagne and sparkling wine, experiencing all the drink has to offer in a trend-forward and luxe atmosphere.

We offer high-end Champagne’s by the glass (one of the only locations pouring certain makers), as well as bubbles from all over the world and some amazing lesser-known grower Champagnes. We offer a full dinner experience as well created by executive chef Tom Tabone. Our concept leans into sharing – sharing in memories, moments, drink as well as food. We have beautiful charcuterie and smaller plates as well as heavier dishes that are just as easily shared. And we can’t forget Caviar. We have thoughtfully crafted our menu so each dish exquisitely pairs with bubbles.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Kansas City has always been home to me. I love our hometown pride, how everyone is friendly and kind and that you get that small town feel. I also love that KC is expanding and growing and attracting some extremely cool and talented people and amazing businesses.

I don’t like the crime rate and that the unhoused population is on the rise. Things need to be done to preserve our city, ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity for success.
