Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesica Williams.
Hi Jesica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been an athlete my whole life & have always enjoyed the conversations I’ve had about what I’m eating, how I’m working out and new practices I’m implementing. This prompted me to start my blog during my last semester of college in 2012 as an outlet & way of sharing with more people. This platform started out as “Run On Organic” and covered the components of an organic, non-toxic lifestyle.
I rebranded in 2018 to Feel More Gooder; a refreshed digital wellness platform to encourage a healthy life that feels good to you as a unique human. On my blog & social media platforms, I dive into intuitive fitness, mindful intuition, clean beauty & self peace. It’s my offering to others; my way of reminding my community that it’s all about making your own rules in life. I aim to encourage others to carve out their authentic path in life with zero shame or apprehension.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Leaving a traditional job scenario to pursue blogging has come with its challenges. Up until the beginning of 2021, I was blogging as a part-time hobby/job alongside my full-time job. The hardest part of taking the leap has been the fear that others won’t get it, won’t support it & that I would be viewed as irresponsible for not keeping a job that provided consistent income.
However, it’s all been worth it and more! In many ways, I’m just getting started (even though I’m nine years into running a blog). I continue to run into opportunities for improvement on my website, graphics, etc. These are not areas that I have vast experience in, so I have become somewhat of a self-taught blogger. The work of managing the backend of a website is tedious, mundane and definitely not glamorous. But, it helps me reach more people.
I believe I was born to be an entrepreneur in some capacity. Now that I’m here, I can’t imagine doing anything else.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I describe my job to most people as “Wellness Blogger.” I also use verbiage like “Digital Wellness Space”, as I am on several different online platforms sharing my message. A few ways that my work sustains me and provides monetary income is affiliate marketing, sponsored blog content and sponsored social media content.
Most of my community likely knows me from the fragments of my healthy lifestyle that I share on a daily basis, along with my passion for sweating & interest in clean skincare and non-toxic beauty.
I’m most proud of staying true to myself. I’d imagine that my stubbornness and relentless commitment to following what’s true for me comes across through my content. I think this dedication to authenticity & my naturally motivated state set me apart.
What are your plans for the future?
I don’t give the future much daylight in my thoughts. I really strive to stay in the moment I’m in now. This means I’m not one to make goals. Though, I do dream from time to time.
Something I’ve dreamt about lately is creating, designing and releasing merch for Feel More Gooder. Through shirts, stickers, etc., I’d love to keep spreading the feel good vibe and phrases/sayings that elicit good feelings. It’s just another means to encourage others to live the raddest life they can.
The next big change after that will likely be adding to my team, as I’ve been a one-woman-team for nine years.
