Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Valdivia.
Hi Jackie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always had a passion for using my creative outlet in coloring and cutting & styling hair! I started out as a receptionist at my uncle’s salon, when I was I’m high school I then decided I wanted to go to cosmetology school. I attended the College of Hair Design in 2001.
I started my journey in becoming a stylist. I had worked at a commission salon for 16 years. I realized that it was time for me to start my own business.
My parents were entrepreneurs owning restaurants in KCMO Suteras Italian Restaurant!
My salon ManeFrame Hair in Overland Park! I’ve got a studio that’s just quaint and where my clients feel comfortable. My clients are my family they have supported me from the very beginning!
I still continue my education and keep up with the latest trends through the past 20 years they have changed. Its extremely important to me to stay current!
I can truly say that I have found my passion in life!
To my husband Anthony and my daughter Riley and my stepson Deacon who has been my backbone in the process of opening ManeFrame Hair
So pleased to share my story and thankful for the opportunity to make people feel confident & happy as they walk out my salon doors!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Opening your own business comes with many challenges but I had a great team of people who believed in me & the support from everyone helped tremendously.
Opening my business in a global pandemic did concern me, however I knew that this was always going to be the ending outcome for myself and family! Having a balance between home and work life was very important to me!
I love giving my gift to people to make them feel confident and good about themselves!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I would say color is what I love doing most. Custom colors for each individual guest that sits in my chair, color melts, balayage would be top on my list.
What sets me apart from others would be my interaction with my clients, we’re like family!
It’s a comfortable, peaceful atmosphere where the conversation is flowing and the vibe is cozy!
How do you define success?
Referrals. The more people are talking about you and your work is a success!
