Today we’d like to introduce you to Hallie Lemon.
Hi Hallie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hey there! My name is Hallie Lemon. I am 33, a mother to four sons, 16, 13, 7, and 5. I am a wife to the most incredible & supportive husband and a proud business owner of my photography business that I have been running since 2012. I was born, raised and still reside in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. My business is located in Kansas City, Missouri, and the surrounding areas. My four sons inspire the name of my company. I have re-branded several times; finally, in 2019, I chose “Four Blossoms Photography” based on my four sons. And In 2020, I obtained my LLC! I am a goal setter, movie lover, foodie, nature goer, craft “attempter,” optimistic mother, independent woman, and a person who overall enjoys optimistic company!
I photograph everything from graduations, birthdays, engagements, extended families, births, fashion, and anything in between. All the business that comes to me is through word of mouth! Making an impression and reassuring comfort to those who have never had the opportunity to get professional photos taken is a big factor of mine ( fun fact, I still get a little taken back when someone refers to me as a professional 😊).
I taught myself everything I know today about photography through the inspiration of local photographers, many youtube tutorials based on the technique I was most interested in learning, and many hours of practice. I still push myself to learn new techniques every time I have my camera ready, as the possibilities are endless within photography. When I started photography, I never dreamed of being a photographer; what I once considered a hobby grew fiercely into a lifelong passion. I could not see my life today without my business, the growing clientele, and the friends I have made along this journey.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every business has its ups and downs, trial and error, and mishaps along the way! I strongly believe struggles are needed; they help us take a step back and see the things we may or may not need to change in the industry of photography; things are constantly changing, upgrading, and improving, which can be a struggle to keep up with certain demands in equipment and such. Thankfully, in my 11 years of photography, I have been very blessed with amazing clients, which has made it a smooth ride!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
As a photographer you sometimes take little bits from various skills/jobs and use them within each session. There are some days I’m a interior decorator , some days I witness women giving birth RIGHT there with the dulas, another day I might be a wedding planner … because when you photograph a wedding you are helping all vendors throughout the day. So it’s truly amazing when I get to experience something different with each session, and each client I meet. To aother eye, they might just see a person holding a camera and, taking a photograph. But for me, it’s so much more than being “a photographer” it’s a way of art, and creativity within constat moving life.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Yes! I’d like to think what got me to where I am today as far as “quality” would my absolute constancy!! My passion has had dips, turns, and curve balls. However, photography will always be a part of who I am!
