Check Out EDWARD Wong’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to EDWARD Wong.

Hi EDWARD, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I got my start with my first gig at a local show in Kansas City, Missouri on July 17, 2021. From there, everything really came down to staying curious and putting myself in the right rooms. I paid attention to people who were already doing what I wanted to do, learned from them, and figured a lot of things out through trial and error.

The road from then to now hasn’t been easy. There’s been a lot of sacrifice along the way, especially time away from my wife, family, and friends, and putting most of my energy into this instead of other things I enjoy. But that’s just part of what it takes.

More than anything, I’ve tried to stay hungry and approach everything like there’s always blood in the water. Just always pushing, always looking for the next opportunity, and not getting too comfortable. That mindset is what’s gotten me to where I am today and what keeps me going.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Nothing great comes easy, and this has been no exception.

There have been a lot of long nights, failed attempts, and moments where things didn’t go the way I planned at all. On top of that, one of the biggest challenges has been constantly shifting between a high-intensity work mindset and a slower, more relaxed day-to-day life. Finding that balance isn’t easy.

But all of it has been part of the process, and honestly, those challenges are what make it worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a touring creative/ media director specializing in live music, festivals, and artist content. I create content that helps artists connect with their audience while capturing the energy and emotion that make live events unforgettable.

Beyond shooting, I help manage media operations from planning and team coordination to content delivery, making sure everything runs smoothly from start to finish.

What I’m most proud of is the path that got me here. I came from Guam with no camera experience and no connections in the music industry. Through a lot of hard work and persistence, I built a career that allows me to tour full time and work with nationally recognized artists and festivals.

What sets me apart is that I bring more than just a camera. I understand the bigger picture, from content strategy and production logistics to team leadership and execution. My goal is always to make life easier for the artists and teams I work with while delivering content they can be proud of.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like most about Boise is the pace of life. My career keeps me on the road and surrounded by high energy environments, so having a place that’s quiet, relaxed, and slower paced provides a great balance. It gives me the opportunity to recharge and separate work from personal life.

What I like least about Boise is the limited number of direct flights. Because I travel frequently for work, having to make additional connections can add a lot of time and complexity to an already demanding travel schedule.
