Check Out Diana Magana’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Magana.

Hi Diana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Let me begin by introducing myself; hi, hello, I’m Diana! Soy Salvadoreña! I come from Salvadoran roots; my mother and father were both born and raised in El Salvador. They immigrated to California at a young age and worked to eventually reach their goals: become U.S. citizens, raise amazing children, and better their lives! I was born in California and was raised in Emporia, Kansas. I completed all my education here at Emporia, from Maynard Preschool to my current Emporia State University. I am currently a full-time student at Emporia State University with a major in Business Marketing. I was bullied growing up. However, I was able to use that to push myself to achieve more. Education has always been a very important part of my life, so one of my biggest goals is to graduate from college! I wish to continue on to graduate school if life permits; I want to achieve my master’s in Business Administration to ultimately become a Marketing Manager. I plan to also become a real estate agent as well! I have several goals for myself, but in all honesty, I am just a girl who dreams of living a happy life. However, there are several side hustles that I am extremely passionate about. I currently have a small chocolate business where I sell various desserts called ‘Bate Chocolate.’ Every year I do a fundraiser, and I donate half the profit to a leading cause; this year, I donated to Mental Health America, and last year I donated to Save the Children, specifically the children of Uganda. I also do choreography for quinceaneras! I have always loved dancing, and being able to help girls learn how to dance is something I love! Continuing on, I also model! I have been in various runway shows, and I have also done multiple paid shoots! I consider myself a ‘micro-influencer’ because I have a small following on Instagram and Tiktok. I have actually had many incredible opportunities to collab with various brands such as Topfoxx, Jovy, and FaceTheory! But ultimately, my life goal is just to be happy. I want to live a happy life and do the things I love.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggle I have faced is the battle with myself. I was bullied growing up, so from a young age, I had that voice in my head reassuring me that I would never make it. I actually struggled with Anorexia for a couple of years and, fortunately, was able to recover thanks to my lovely family and friends. I was always too scared to put myself out there; I was too scared to start my small business, to model, and to chase my dreams. Becoming Miss Emporia Latina 2021 definitely helped me pursue modeling, and it opened up a lot of doors for me. My chocolate business has helped me give back to the community.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My chocolate business has helped make a huge impact on mental health and save children. The fundraiser I do every year for Valentine’s day really helps raise a lot of money for a good cause. What makes my work different is that my creations are made for the sole purpose of helping others of making other people happy. I love helping others, and even with modeling or social media, I just love to see people smile. If I can use my small platform to help others, I will. I do choreography for quinceaneras, and I am able to create bonds with these incredible kids! I love everything that I do, and I am so lucky to have these incredible opportunities.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is definitely always being a good person. I haven’t had the most fortunate life, but if I can in any way help out someone else, I will. No hesitation. My family and friends are also very near and dear to my heart. I wouldn’t be where I am without them. I come from a larger family. I have 5 siblings, Vilma, Lizeth, Elvis, Melody, and Heidi. My mom, Vilma Landaverde, and my father, Jorge Umana, have been there with me every step of the way, and I could not thank them enough for everything they have done. My kiddos from the quinceaneras I choreograph have also made me smile and laugh so so much. I am very fortunate to have so many memories with incredible people.
