Check Out Devynn Cooper’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devynn Cooper.

Hi Devynn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Kansas City will always be home for me. It’s where my roots are, where my friendships were built, and where my sense of community really began. In August of 2021, my life took a big turn when my now husband and I made the decision to move to the East Coast, settling in Massachusetts. We were excited about new opportunities, being closer to my parents, and starting a new chapter together. At the same time, leaving behind the familiarity of Kansas City and the people we loved was not easy. Fast forward almost five years later, and I’m proud of how far we’ve come. We’ve grown both personally and professionally. My husband has continued to build his career in film production, and I’ve been working in healthcare while also focusing on my education. I’m currently pursuing my goals of going back to school to study sonography and radiology, which is something I’m truly passionate about. Balancing work, school, and life hasn’t always been easy, but it has taught me resilience and patience, and it reminds me that growth takes time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Moving to another state definitely came with its own set of obstacles. One of the biggest challenges was finding a sense of community and building new friendships. It’s different when you’re in your 30s, and people are busy with their own careers, families, and responsibilities, and making meaningful connections can take time. There are moments when we still truly missed our tribe back in Kansas City. Even now, whether it’s for work or just to reconnect and have fun, we always make it a point to visit KC whenever we can. It still feels like home every time we return. I’m also sorry to say, but BBQ on the east coast is just not the same as it is in the Midwest. That is a local cuisine that I truly miss having access to. Until then, I’ll continue to enjoy all the fresh fish and seafood.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Another exciting chapter in our journey has been starting our Instagram channel, The Nom Nom Undertaking, which was inspired by our shared love of food and travel. What began as a fun idea quickly turned into something we both genuinely enjoy. You’ll usually see my face and hear my voice on the channel, while my husband works behind the scenes capturing all of the amazing content. It truly feels like a team effort, and it’s been such a rewarding experience for both of us. Being in front of the camera has helped me come out of my comfort zone in the best way possible. It’s helped me build confidence, find my voice, and share parts of my life and experiences that I enjoy with others. The channel is still growing, and I’m learning as I go, but I’m incredibly excited about the possibilities ahead.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
One of my biggest goals moving forward is to connect with a mentor who can guide me and show me different methods for creating content, building a stronger brand, and reaching a wider audience. I truly believe there is so much value in learning from people who have already walked the path you’re trying to navigate. I’m eager to continue improving, exploring new ideas, and expanding our reach in the food and travel space. My hope is that, The Nom Nom Undertaking continues to grow into something meaningful—not just for us, but for the community we’re building along the way. Whether it leads to brand partnerships, collaborations with other creators, or new opportunities to travel and share experiences, I’m excited to see where this journey takes us. This journey hasn’t been perfect, but it has been real, and it has been worth it. And through every step, Kansas City will always be a part of who I am.
