Today we’d like to introduce you to Codie Lea.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ever since I was a young girl, I have had a desire to help those around me. From wanting to lend an ear to listening to someone’s bad day, or offering a back and neck massage, or giving a piece of artwork to a stranger to make their day. It has been a core part of me to give back in some way. I also watched people around me struggle to see their value, their sense of worth. They constantly worked at jobs they hated, waiting for the weekend, or the next break, or vacation, or retirement to actually get to live. Even as a small child, I was confused by this. What is a life that is constantly held on the breath of, “One day, when I…”? Rather than seeing and coming from the deep well of joy that lives within?
This was such a strong question for me that it became a guiding light to live from my joy, from the things that lit me up. This then led me to going to Massage school when I was 16 years old, still in high school. It was at this massage school that I got to explore in unique ways our relationship with the body and with healing. I became a Reiki practitioner and eventually a Reiki Master, learning the connection of energy in the body and the truth that we are nothing but a field of energy. This also inspired my ever-growing exploration of the connection between the Body and the Mind and how creating alignment within the whole Self actually causes the deepest level of healing.
All the while, I explored my own thoughts, feelings and soul through my art. Exploring art through drawing, painting, and eventually sculpting. Using my hands as a tool for full expression and healing. This brought me to getting my Bachelors in Fine Art, graduating with honors from an honor’s thesis art show where I challenged the viewer, through sculpture and interactive space, to question perspective. Even then I was exploring how our perspective shapes our reality. What happens when we shift our perspective, how does that influence our reality?
Within me, there has always been this drive to creatively challenge the way in which I see the world and thereby challenge others. True healing of our body’s, our minds, our communities comes from challenging and questioning our perspectives, our beliefs. In this way, I have always been exploring and chasing the question, “What is the best way to heal and grow?”
No matter what, it has always come back to integration, inner connection, and shifting perspective to see a greater picture. This has been my story of how I became a BodyMind Coach, a Reiki Master, a Gene Keys Guide, and a Shaman in training. It has been a story to help others in the world discover a new perspective that hopefully will lead to their deepest healing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is anything in life ever truly a smooth road? I say this with lightness in my heart because I believe growing and bringing a business and a passion into the world is much like birthing. Of course, there are going to be birthing pains, but what we can do is breathe and surrender to the moment, whatever that moment will be.
For me, some of the pains were unexpected. I lost my mother in 2019 right before I got married, and right as the building I was renting space from closed their doors. I had to pivot and grieve and find a way to allow happiness to shine through for my wedding day. It was a kaleidoscope of emotions, but one that helped me deepen into my work as a Body Mind Coach. The work of healing isn’t exactly a destination, is an ever-evolving journey after all. Then when I started to get my business feet more stable and was basically in launch mode, the Pandemic came into full force. My husband owns a restaurant so we were in full pivot mode for how to keep the doors open, not only through the pandemic but also beyond. My goals of growth felt like they took a backward slide within all that was happening. The rise of fear within the collective made my Husband and I face our own fears, big and small. It ultimately made us stronger both together and individually. It then felt like my business and I (and the Universe) were playing a game of ‘Mother May I’.
What I learned was a deeper level of trust, surrender, and release. I began to realize that my work is more about being a Midwife to the dreams Spirit wants me to birth, to the dreams my clients want to birth, and to the collective evolution. That ultimately the struggles I face are the struggles I am fully equipped to help guide others through. And that there is profound oneness in that truth.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Guide to help others find and discover a deeper level of healing within themselves. My background is in Body Somatic Massage Therapy, Sculpture and Fine Arts, Reiki Master level, and more recently a Certified Body Mind Coach. I am also currently participating in a Shaman Apprenticeship that is completely Spirit lead.
I also integrate Human Design and Gene Keys into my work, which both systems help you understand your own personal algorithm and way of moving in life, as well as show you your greatest shadows and gifts.
I specialize in guiding people through mental and emotional limitations and trauma, integrate and release it, and step into full alignment with one’s inner truth and highest Self. I do this in a way that is approachable, understandable, fun & playful. I believe that play and joy are integral to healing, so they are an essential part of how I work. It’s the creativity part of me that comes into my healing work.
I am most known for helping people shift their perspectives and heal core challenges. I also lead Wellness and Transformational retreats for women.
The thing I am most proud of at this moment is how I am surrendering to the flow and the direction of Spirit moving through me. If anyone knows anything about surrendering, then you know how difficult it can be and also how transformative it is.
What sets me apart from others is that I walk the healing path alongside you. I look at my role kind of like a guide on a mountain trail, each journey as a new expedition. I have walked the path, and when we work together, I will walk the path with you. But ultimately, you lead or decide the direction, after all your healing is yours. I am not someone who tells you “The five steps you need to…” or “The ten most important things you need to…”. Every healing journey is different, there is no cookie-cutter way. It may be a similar path up the mountain, but with different detours (like bears or flooded rivers, to keep the mountain hiking analogy LOL).
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
We are all on a deep and profound journey, sometimes even we are unaware of. My deepest desire is to help others uncover their truth, their purpose and live it fiercely and fully. The world needs each one of us to show up in our own true light. When we do that, everything changes and begins to deeply heal. This is what I hope to give to the world, through this small window I have in time, and maybe help us all leave the world a better place than we found it.
