Check Out Channing “CHAN” & Morgan Smith’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Channing “CHAN” & Morgan Smith.

Hi Channing & Morgan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
All of my life I grew up in a rough household. I didn’t ever feel loved or cared for and that’s because I never was. I developed depression at a young age and have always battled with it. A huge part of my life I always knew I was gay but was always scared to come out due to how my family and some of my friends were.

I have always had a huge passion for music, singing, and songwriting as well. I hid who I was for so long to please others and hopefully get excepted by the people who I thought were supposed to accept me anyway. One day, I woke up and decided I was done with that. So, I made a YouTube channel, a Twitter account, and an Instagram account.

I started posting short singing videos, and I would go live on You Now and sing for people as well there. I started breaking out of my shell and posting more covers and music. After a couple of years, I started to gain a following on social media. I was kind of shocked when people loved my content and wanted to follow me, but was super grateful. I realized as I kept growing my following that I could help people who felt exactly like I did.

So, I started using my social media to bring awareness to abuse, depression, and anxiety. My social media career really started in 2017 when I gained over 60,000 followers on all of my platforms and was added to the Famous Birthdays family. I went on a few tour stops and helped more people who felt the way I did.

I was an Ambassador for a Non-Profit Organization called “The Buddy Project” which helped pair people with similar situations or mental health situations so they can help one another and be there for each other. A couple of years later, I can out as gay. I have been completely me and have been 100% authentic.

I met Morgan who is now my beautiful wife. She is someone who showed me love, and has helped me branch out and live my life to the fullest! I am still an influencer now and my wife Morgan does a lot with me on social media too!!! We also have started our own Non-Profit called “You Are Needed Co.”

We strive to help people, especially in the LGBTQIA community, make people feel loved, and inspire others to live their lives authentically no matter who it may upset.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been super rocky. I mean my wife and I being a part of the LGBTQIA community immediately put a target on our backs, which is sad, but true.

There were so many times in my life I didn’t know if I could continue. So many times, where I was tempted to cut my life short, but I’ve shown myself that where I am today is the reason my story wasn’t over.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a 24-year-old Singer/Songwriter and Social Media Influencer. My wife and I post videos together, reviewing different foods, candies, places, etc.

I sing and write songs and am currently working on my first EP, more details will come out about that soon! I also post videos on Tiktok, Instagram, and Youtube!

I am also featured on “Famous Birthdays.” My wife does Organization and Cleaning videos that she is going to start posting soon as well!

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Considering my music is about to surface, along with some collaborations with other artists, like “Surf Wax Band” and more, I feel like my shift in the music industry will take a positive and big turn in the next few months.

That’s what I plan to focus my career on, is music and singing/songwriting. I also have quite a bit of partnership that will be announced soon!
