Check Out Camille Lewis’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Lewis.

Hi Camille, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began Planning in 2008 and created Expressive Solutions & Creations in 2009. I was always told I should plan parties for a living so I decided to put my hobby into a dream and began an intensive Wedding Planning and Design education; obtaining many professional certifications between having my Children and being a mom. I am a connector who loves to bring people together.

In and out of my professional life, I always find myself in the middle of planning fun and memorable events for the people around me. It definitely was not easy as I put my dream on hold for my babies as any mother would. I have spent several years working to build the brand that I have and acquire the financial structure to obtain my own location.

In 2020, during the pandemic, I managed to finally get my physical location in Grandview. It was tough but I pushed through and here it is 2 years later and I have not only managed to survive the pandemic but also move into an even better location and add more services. I continue to juggle my career and my business several days a week and hope to soon be living in my dream only and not having to work for someone else.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not.

I have held my business afloat by fully financing it myself. No PPP, no business loans, just my clients and my full-time job.

This, along with being diagnosed with Lupus in the middle of acquiring my location has often discouraged me but I make a way daily

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am cut from a different cloth. Not only am I a Certified Planner, Event Designer, and Coordinator but I am also an Ordained Minister Rental Provider, Bridal Gown Specialist, and Florist.

My clients are able to come to me and receive everything they need for the event from beginning to end (minus the venue). I am mostly known for Weddings as I have been nominated for several awards pertaining to my wedding planning and even won a few.

I would like to say that I am most proud of my ability to help any and everyone but most importantly, the weddings that I have done for my LGBTQIA+ clients. I take pride in my business being a no-hate zone and being inclusive to everyone.

What do you think about happiness?
Being in my space, at my location makes me happy.

I had fought and cried and stressed so many years to make it happen and although it’s not the big location that I dream of, I have gotten this far and every time I walk in that door, I cannot help but smile from ear to ear
