Today we’d like to introduce you to Boston Craig.
Hi Boston, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a licensed esthetician and professional makeup artist. My journey throughout the beauty industry and in esthetics has continually evolved since I was a little girl. I have fond and vivid memories of my mother who is a hairstylist, working in a salon as I grew up. It is my mother that I give a huge credit to the appreciation and love that I have for making others feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. Throughout high school, I found interest in doing makeup on others. That also branched into another passion of skincare and product knowledge. Growing up, I would do makeup for my friends in high school for school dances. That has now turned into me doing some of those same girls makeup for their weddings, years later. I graduated from Eric Fisher Academy and now am a licensed professional in the beauty industry. I am grateful to be an in demand traveling makeup artist based out of Wichita, Kansas. As well, I am a esthetician who specializes in facials and medical grade skincare.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Finding my way to become full-time in the beauty industry was not easy. I was a Covid-19 senior throughout the pandemic. Seeing my mother who is a hair stylist, not able to work while I was trying to decide my career path after high school, gave me the fear of not being able to do what I truly wanted to do for my career. At the time, no one knew when people were allowed to go back to work, or what life would look like after the pandemic. The “cons” outweighed the “pros” and I made the decision to go to college at Kansas State University to get a teaching degree. My plans were to one day become a school principal. During my time at K-State, pandemic regulations started to be lifted, and life slowly started to feel normal again. People were able to go back to work, and my makeup clients slowly started booking again. It was when I noticed myself having to turn down bookings because of school, that I knew in my heart, I could make this a career. I graduated from Kansas State University in the spring of 2023 with a Bachelors of Science in Educational Students. I put fear to the side, and made the decision of my career change into the beauty industry after I graduated from college. In the fall of 2023, I started my esthetician journey and became a full-time student at Eric Fisher Academy. I am grateful for my experiences and for my education from K-State, but could not be more happy with my decision to becoming a professional in the beauty industry!

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Makeup has stuck by my side since I was a little girl…. in high school I almost gave up my dreams of one day becoming a full-time provider in the beauty industry.
I was still searching within for the makeup artist that would set me apart. I felt defeated trying to be just like other artists, whom I admired. I was constantly having to remind myself, that I will never be just like someone else. Every artist is special and unique in their own craft. You simply can’t compare yourself to another. That will only steal the joy out of something you love.
What I’ve learned: There is room for ALL of us in this industry!! My younger self truly thought I would never be fully booked, because in my mind, where I lived just seemed to small. That is simply just not the truth…. Doubt. Doubt is the thief of many potential blessings if you allow it to overcome you.
If only my younger self knew the life that was set out for her. I would tell her I’m proud of her for pushing past imposter syndrome, doubt, and fear. She trusted in herself and fueled her passion with fire to create what she has laid out as the foundation to her career. This is only the beginning!
Put in the work, grind, and continue striving to be the best version of YOU.
You will only continue to see improvements in your craft.
In saying this, NEVER give up your dream. The sky is the limit!
