Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Personett.
Hi Ashley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As I’m sure many people say when asked the question, I have been performing since I can remember. I was given my first opportunity to work professionally at age 16 and have continued to work in the arts.
There have been many people who have taken me under their wing, inspired me in my youth, and continue to influence the work I create. My family is also an incredible support system, along with my chosen family of friends and my husband Kenny, all of which have supported me in everything I do along the way.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being in the arts is a constant struggle. The past two years have proven in more ways than one how difficult it is to produce work in our current climate. It’s forced people to be even more resourceful and find new ways to generate income.
Beyond that, in 2020 I had a very difficult pregnancy and gave birth to twin boys who have enriched my life as much as they have created additional challenges. Every day is a different and wild ride! The arts and motherhood are not for the faint of heart.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have transitioned to work behind the scenes in event production as Founder and Director of That’s Entertainment KC, Kansas City’s premiere event entertainment company for corporate and non-profit events.
We provide atmosphere entertainment, character actors, and fully produced dance productions for the most anticipated events in town. We pride ourselves on exclusively hiring local talent, and continuing to cultivate and support the dynamic arts scene in Kansas City.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I love working closely with individual event planners to create experiences, assisting in creating a fun and energetic atmosphere, and increasing guest participation and fundraising efforts.
