Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Falzone

Hi Ashley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My Salon originally started during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Although it was a risky business move, I figured it was the best time to start a business. Property value was down, while hope was at an all time high. I wanted to keep my self afloat while the world seemed to be in shambles. I found finding a space all my own was the best option to keep my clients feeling safe in a time of uncertainty. Since opening in 2021, my salon has grown from a one chair salon to a 5 chair salon in the heart of Crossroads, Kansas City. A|F SALON found a niche market servicing the elite of Kansas City. We are proud to call ourselves a growing staple in Downtown Kansas City.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Growing as a salon in the beauty industry is certainly a struggle that is not for the faint of heart. I started my business with the idea that I would just be doing hair, when that is far from the reality. I have found myself in a position that requires many hats. I run all our social media platforms, our marketing, manage our staff, do all inventory management, and all financials. I spend a large amount of my time behind the chair-however that is only a small portion of what it takes in order to keep A|F SALON running like a well oiled machine.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Our Salon specializes in a plethora of services! We specialize in Hair Extensions, Curly Hair, Advanced Color, and Wedding/ Special Event Makeup and Hair Services. We are definitely most proud of the clients that we service. We service women of the greater Kansas City area who are politicians, leaders of woman’s groups, and those who work behind the scenes to make Kansas City a greater place to be. To be able to service the elite of Kansas City doesn’t only make us feel special in the work we do, but it also makes us proud. We regularly see our clients in the news and in articles about Kansas City development. To say that we are blessed to have all these types of people in our chairs is an understatement. It makes our jobs as hair stylist that much more exciting- and that much more important. We love getting to see our work in the community and making a difference.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
My most important lesson I’ve learned in my journey is that hair makes a huge difference. Hair is the crown you always wear. Hair determines so many things. It signifies your social influence, it signifies your social status, it signifies self care, and it signifies confidence. Taking the time to care for yourself is something that is often overlooked, but is something that is crucial to your image and success.
