Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Hazlett.
Hi Alyssa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It has been my dream for a long time to be a solo esthetician and create a space that truly reflects my values. I didn’t expect to open my own business so early in my career, but after experiencing some of the challenges that often come with working in this industry, I made the decision to go solo this summer. For me, it was about protecting my peace, honoring my worth, and building something sustainable that puts both myself and my clients first. Going independent has been both the hardest and most rewarding step I’ve taken, and it’s given me the freedom to serve my clients the way I’ve always envisioned
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! As a solo business owner, I wear all the hats — service provider, marketer, receptionist, janitor, and everything in between. Learning how to balance all of those roles while staying organized has been a big challenge. At the same time, I actually enjoy having full control over my business and my client experience. It’s been a steep learning curve, but I see every obstacle as part of the growth that comes with building something of my own.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an esthetician who specializes in creating glass skin and sharp, polished brows. Beyond the services themselves, I’m known for helping my clients feel truly confident in their own skin. I take pride in being detail-oriented and a bit of a perfectionist — whether I’m shaping a brow or customizing a facial, I want every client to leave feeling like their best self.
What I’m most proud of so far is my resilience. Every challenge I’ve faced has pushed me to grow stronger and more intentional about the business I’m building.
What sets me apart is that I’m ethical and client-focused rather than sales-driven. I will never push or upsell a product or service just to make money. If I recommend something, it’s because I genuinely believe it will help my client. That integrity is the foundation of my work, and I think clients can feel that when they’re in my treatment room
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is building my own empire — creating a brand and business that reflects who I am and the values I believe in. I’ve always wanted to be self-employed because it gives me the freedom to build on my own terms. Having faced challenges in the past, I know how important it is to create a healthy, empowering environment where I can thrive and where my clients feel genuinely cared for. My focus is on building something lasting that I can be proud of, and that others can feel proud to be a part of too.
