Today we’d like to introduce you to Allyson Fabes.
Allyson, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was a saxophone student at KU and turned to my friends and said “we should play at bars for some money”.
We started as a cover band back in 2017 and realized how much we loved playing and being with each other and we started writing originals and became Glass Bandit!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. We’ve had our ups and downs being together for 5 years. We are 8 people with 8 large personalities.
It’s not always easy to be on the same page about futures and careers but thankfully we all trust and support each other and that is what makes us stay together!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
After graduating with my Master’s from the University of Miami in Music Business, I started to work for Glass Bandit full time.
I am so proud of who we have become and how much we are growing. I specialize in the business and financial side of the music, I also focus a lot on management and booking along with other members of the band. I think what sets us apart from other bands, is that the whole band is a team.
We always know what is happening, what page we are on, where we are going next, etc.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
The music business is 50% luck.
The grind of practicing, content, and live shows are all important and necessary to succeed, but it also means being in the right place at the right time with the right people and we are so fortunate to continue to grow, work, and be lucky
