Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Johnson.
Hi Adam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been in the wedding industry for over a decade and witnessed the stern eye of family members judging the antics of folks using photo booths. I figured people wanted something private, away from prying eyes, to explore their wildest ideas. Razzle Dazzle was born. Converting an old, E-350 Econoline bus into my vision I was able to create a one-of-a-kind experience. With printed photostrips for all our guests I like to think we help create memories that are refrigerator worthy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
All in all it has been really smooth. Understanding the logistics of weddings and how Razzle Dazzle can compliment the circus has been helpful. Use our services during the transition between ceremony and reception, during your cocktail hour, as an alternative to cannibalizing your interior space, or more often than not, a default activity for the kids in attendance.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve been making skate videos since I was 14 years old and been fortunate enough to travel all over the World with some of my best friends. From there me and my business partner created Vibralux Denim, then Vibralux Media, and now Vibralux Distribution. Each arm of Vibralux offers something unique, from apparel and hardgoods for inline skaters, do distribution services for other brands in the industry, and lastly, video production services.
Around Lawrence I’m known for my creative approach to video production. In a crowded space so many people are trying to fit in, copy trends, and go viral. I prefer to stand out and take non-traditional approaches to content creation and talking with the audience.
The biggest feather in my cap is producing the video pitch that brought the Junior Olympics to Lawrence, KS. We were able to beat out host cities from all over the country by showcasing Rock Chalk park, and it’s amenities, in a creative way.
What matters most to you? Why?
Making people feel seen. Being behind the camera or behind the counter I’ve experienced it all. Working at McDonalds through High School I learned early that most folks just want to be appreciated for their effort. A simple thank you and a kind smile goes a long way. Working behind the lens I’ve found that even the most boisterous of personalities have a bit self-consciousness. I love when I’m able to bring out the best in people, regardless of if they are sliding down handrails on skates, posing for a photo on their wedding day, or serving me a delicious cup of coffee.
