Check Out Abby Peoples’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Peoples.

Hi Abby, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Throughout my life, I’ve discovered a deep love for capturing memory-making moments—mist dancing between mountains, the way evening light saturates a Manhattan brownstone, the life story written in the face of someone I’ve only just met. My desire to capture moments started at a young age – I grew up with a mom who turned her love of photography into a business, and I had a front-row seat to all of it. On family trips, I’d snag her camera as she taught me about composition and lighting. During portrait sessions, I’d hold her reflector, and I was always thrilled to help package photo orders for the local sports teams.
After I moved across the country to Seattle post-college, my mom gifted me my first “real” camera for my birthday. Over the last six years, that camera has traveled the world with me—from driving the Road to Hana in Maui, to hiking the Cascades in the Pacific Northwest, to wandering the dreamy alleyways of Italy—filling up SD cards with breathtaking scenes and the memories that came with them.
In 2024, my company hosted an employee art fair where I presented my work to the public for the first time, filling a booth with my photography. The positive response—and the joy I felt sharing the stories behind each image—was overwhelming in the best way. Earlier this year, life handed me lemons in the form of a shift in my corporate career, so I decided to turn them into lemonade by officially launching my photography business. It has been such a joy to lean into this passion and meet so many wonderful people along the way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I publicly launched my business, I wanted every detail—my logo, my portfolio, my editing style—to look pristine. I kept waiting for the “right” timing and the perfect presentation, but eventually I realized that mindset had become my biggest obstacle. What I’ve learned is that once you begin, growth and iterations are inevitable. I’m learning to be comfortable with evolving my approach, shifting my mindset, and continually re-centering myself on what brought me here in the first place: I adore people’s stories, I love capturing memories, and engaging in creative work continually re-energizes my heart and my mind!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
