We recently had the chance to connect with Tonni “Pharoh” Fewell and have shared our conversation below.
Tonni “Pharoh”, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I am always chasing my dreams. The constant pursuit of them is what keeps me motivated and inspired every day. I teach my sons that “If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough”. I believe that if I were to stop chasing my dreams, everything that I’ve been fighting for would have all been for nothing, and that is no way to live.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Tonni “Pharoh” Fewell—critically acclaimed author, blogger, and the creative force behind Fewell Media, a storytelling hub rooted in culture, authenticity, and transformation. My journey began on the streets of Warrensburg and Kansas City, MO, where I first found my voice as a young recording artist and later a Co-C.E.O. of the independent label Tyccoon Entertainment. That same raw energy and lyrical precision now fuel my work as a writer and cultural curator.
I’ve made the leap from stage to page with a fearless narrative style that blends grit, grace, and truth. My debut novel, The UnderPass (2022), opened the door to a literary journey that includes my semi-autobiographical masterclass book titled Mafiola: Magnum Opus (2023), I then followed this up with the soulful cookbook The Surf: Seafood Recipes Inspired by Momma Tee (R.I.P.), and the historical tribute Resolute Destiny: A History of Black Excellence. My latest release, The UnderPass 2: Quest of The Callisto (2025), marks a powerful return to my roots—both personal and creative.
However, Fewell Media is more than books. It’s a movement. I’m currently laying the foundation for the Delano Art and History Museum, a space dedicated to celebrating community, culture, and creativity. I’m also writing my first screenplay and developing a line of natural soaps called Spiritual Essenze, inspired by wellness and Foundational Black American ancestral tradition.
Through my weekly blog, The Pinnacle Perspective, I share insights, reflections, and behind-the-scenes glimpses into this evolving journey. Whether through words, visuals, or visionary projects, I aim to inspire others to rise, reflect, and reclaim their narrative.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
Without question, the greatest lessons I’ve learned about hard work came from my beautiful mother Thresia aka “Momma Tee”. She was a powerhouse—a single mom raising three boys with nothing but grit, grace, and relentless determination. I watched her hustle day in and day out, making sure we had a roof over our heads, food on the table, and clothes on our backs. She didn’t just provide—she persevered.
Even though she transitioned in 2023, her spirit is still very much alive in everything I do. Her example wasn’t just about survival—it was about strength, sacrifice, and showing up no matter what. That influence runs deep, and it continues to fuel me every single day.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one thing to my younger self… it’d be a few things wrapped in love and truth. First, I’d say: Be fearless. Chase your dreams with everything you’ve got, even when the path feels uncertain or the world tries to dim your light. You were born to create, to lead, to inspire—don’t let fear steal that fire.
Second, I’d remind myself: Not everyone deserves your trust. People won’t always have your best interests at heart, and that’s okay. Learn to protect your peace, guard your vision, and choose your circle wisely.
And finally, I’d say: Cherish the time with those you love. Life moves fast, and moments with family—especially with those who pour into you—are priceless. Hold them close, listen deeply, and never take that time for granted.
You’re going to grow, stumble, rise, and evolve. But through it all, stay true to your spirit and never compromise your integrity. You’ve got something the world needs.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
One cultural value I protect at all costs is resilience through legacy. As a Foundational Black American, I carry the weight and wisdom of generations who endured, resisted, and rose—often with nothing but faith, ingenuity, and each other. Our stories weren’t always written in history books, but they were etched into our spirit, passed down through kitchen-table conversations, cook-outs, music, art, and lived experience.
I protect the value of honoring our ancestors by continuing what they started—building, creating, and speaking truth to power. Whether through literature, media, or community work, I make it a point to preserve our narratives, amplify our excellence, and ensure our contributions are never erased or diluted.
Resilience isn’t just survival—it’s a sacred inheritance. And I guard it fiercely, because it’s the foundation of who we are and the blueprint for where we’re going.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m with my wife and my two sons—those moments when time slows down and I’m reminded of what truly matters. Whether we’re sharing a quiet meal, laughing over something small, or just being present together, that sense of connection grounds me.
And when I’m in the mountains or on a picturesque beach, surrounded by nature’s vastness, I feel a different kind of peace—one that’s spiritual. It’s in those places that I can breathe deeply, reflect, and feel the presence of something greater. The stillness reminds me of my ancestors’ strength and the beauty of creation. It’s where clarity meets gratitude.
Peace, for me, is found in family and in nature—two sacred spaces that restore me and remind me of my purpose.
