Tam Prejusa shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Tam, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Thrifting and restyling the fit with alterations.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
hello there,
I’m Tam, founder and creator of Yo! hello there; A Mental Well-Being Inspired Product and Service. I was born in Vietnam and grew up in Oklahoma City. I currently live in Overland Park Kansas and loving it here!
I started my creative adventure while working on to complete my graduate degree at Oklahoma City University. I created the Yo! brand in 2016 after fulfilling one of my goals to become a yoga teacher.
My aspiration is to share my wellness experiences by creating a mental well-being inspired product and service.
My life adventures are always learning something new, creating, and sharing my knowledge with others.
Thank you for following with me on my adventure and supporting my small business.
Tam Prejusa
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My two kids. I didn’t feel as important, talented, or creative before I had kids. It was not until I had kids that i felt seen.
They are always supportive and cheered for me on all my crazy ideas and projects. They made me to believe that someday soon that my ideas and dreams will pay off.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I truly believe that through my scarcity (lack of) and challenges that it has taught me to humble myself and to have empathy. Without those, I would not have tried to do better or put in 110%. It has enabled me to become better and to try a lot of things.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Never get caught up in trends or pressure to do something, try something for the first time, and meet deadlines or milestones at a certain age because everyone is. Stay true to yourself, stay pure, and enjoy your childhood/youths. Never grow up too fast because others around you are!
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
When my kids are home with me and they are safe, happy, and enjoying their childhood.
