We’re looking forward to introducing you to Oscar Garza. Check out our conversation below.
Oscar, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Being in a position, within my business, that I can focus on better work life balance! As long as Im good about sticking to my own boundaries, I have much more time to spend with my wife and kids!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I’m Oscar and I run Innate Touch Bodywork!
To me, massage isn’t a luxury. Its a basic necessity that everyone should have access to. That being said, I strive to keep prices affordable without sacrificing quality. I pride myself on the innate affinity I have in massage!
My specialty leans more into Theraputic because I really enjoy helping people work through pain and getting them into a better position! But I do offer many modalities ranging from Swedish through Prenatal!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I would definitely say my wife shaped me the most! We’ve essentially been dating since we were 13, so she’s seen all phases of my life! Having been married since 2021, she’s really helped and allowed me to become my truest self as an adult. And thats definitely led to where I am and the success I’ve been apart of today!
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Losing my mother when I was 13!
That has definitely been the largest struggle to overcome, and led to clouded judgement leading to other mistakes throughout my life.
Losing such a prominent figure, that young, isn’t something you ever really recover from. But with age and and the support of my wife, learning to be more emotionally mature and healthy communication has helped! Though it was definitely easier said than done!
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe that I didnt need anyone’s help to accomplish my goals. I felt that my hard work and determination alone was enough!
Now having been a business owner for a few years, I know better! While hard work, determination, education etc are all important..sometimes it really is who you know and not what you know!
I’ve been fortunate enough to combine my work ethic and connections made in this industry to get additional opportunities! Thats part of how I ended up as the official massage therapist for the Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders!
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think they would miss the intangibles that I bring to the table.
Not every massage therapist listens to client feedback. Not every massage therapist can only speak when spoken to. Not every massage therapist can interpret the clients body language and adjust accordingly.
I pride myself on the intangibles that I bring, because that in and of itself elevates the experience.
