Leo Martinez shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Leo , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
Wake up at 4am downtown KC in my highrise apartment. Go to the gym on the plaza – chiefs fit. Workout, redlight, meditate, journal, and read a chapter of my book by about 8 or 9am. From 9-12 I hit administrative and computer work. From 1-5 I run appointments with my clients. From 5-8 or 9 I do paperwork and build systems that I can leverage to push me closer to my goals.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Leo I’m a 26 y/o aspiring entrepreneur here in Kansas City. I currently do project management for Soderburg Roofing, a company I’ve been with doing sales marketing and leadership since 2019. I’ve grown and scaled my skills here and i’m refining a product that will be invaluable to the national market so I can continue to provide value to the world.
I’m passionate about entrepreneurship and business. It’s all I think about during the waking hours of my day. I want to retire my family, take care of everyone I love, build communities around the world and some day be a venture real estate developer.
I come from a lower class/ poverish family from El Salvador. My parents immigrated here when I was very young sacrificing their lives so that my future could be bright. I don’t want to let anyone down.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
After graduating highschool I was working on a farm I knew this couldn’t be where I ended up. I wanted an extravagant lifestyle full of yachts, private jets, traveling the world, super cars, penthouses etc. I discovered entrepreneurship and realized all these dreams can become goals I simply have to sacrifice fun for a long period of time and work towards success.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has been a theme in life. I think if you want to go from poverty to the top of the food chain you have to suffer. And have to get use to the idea of suffering to where it’s no longer a negative but simply a state of being that is expected. Growth comes from suffering, the moments where you’re physically training pushing beyond your physical capabilities. That’s where you unlock a body sculpted by God’s. It can never be bought, merely earned.
Mentally when you face enough stress that would collapse most people on a daily basis you literally “farm aura” and people look to you as guidance and leadership because they know you can weather any storm. MMA has been huge on building my stress tolerance. When you go 30 minutes of 5 minute rounds with 1 minute breather getting punched, kicked, and slammed on the ground, being choked out etc you learn to deal with simple stress of day to day business operations.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I want to be a millionaire. I know that reality is guaranteed for me. I aspire someday to become a billionaire.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Seems to be my reality.
