Justin Dupont-Price shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Justin, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Always get woken up by my cats every morning but it’s okay because I tend to lay in bed till wayyy too late. I love to make a morning coffee and relax before I do anything else for the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Justin! I’m the owner of my brand called Edge/Beauty which is a makeup brand dedicated to created products that are fun, bold and sexy! I really believe that makeup is suppose to be fun and it’s a form of art so brands should be supporting that feeling. It’s not my goal for people to make products that are insecurity hiders but more about expressing your inner self, someone who craves more excitement!
Currently working on a few new products, I’ve really fallen in love all over again with my brand over the last few months since we rebranded in May!
Can’t wait to share all the new goodies!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
As a gay man I think I gravitate to say my mother but in terms of self-worth I think that my father really was there most the time to be like “hey if you wanna do this then you should it!” That is something I think a lot of kids wish their parents would say and even tho my childhood was a bit chaotic at times, there was never moment where I didn’t feel like I couldn’t achieve my goals.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell little Justin: Don’t worry, don’t stress about anything. You know exactly what you need to do now and be present and grateful because there will be moments when you take advantage of things that you’ll lose and you’ll wish u didn’t so make the most of everything. And Don’t be so scared of everything.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
It’s kinda hard to say what exactly they would think but in my head I think they would say “doing what feels the best to me is what’s important”. They know that I refuse to settle for anything that doesn’t feel 100% like me. I’m pretty outspoken about my wants in life. Since I work with music and makeup and art, they know that I don’t want to just be regular.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
100% yes because I’m already doing this. Since makeup and Edge/Beauty are my passions that everyone knows about now I feel like it’s all spoken for but when I do music I really feel like I’m working into the void. The void being my hole of artistic endeavors. It’s for me you know? Edge/Beauty is for me as well, but it’s more about making something for someone else. Where is music is about me and I make it for me to look back at later not worrying about what people would say and think.
