An Inspired Chat with Caterine Carpio of Raytown

Caterine Carpio shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Caterine , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Recently I was able to attend my second mission trip. This year we traveled to Honduras.

I am mostly thankful than proud to have been given this opportunity. The people in Honduras have a very special place in my heart.

We were able to share the Gospel in the community and serve at the church that hosted us. It was truly an amazing experience.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Caterine, and I’m the heart behind Brave Soul Designs. My brand is all about creating meaningful custom items and personalized gifts that bring joy and leave a lasting impression. Beyond my work as a creative, I also serve as a leader and secretary at my church, which keeps me grounded and connected to my faith and community.

What makes Brave Soul Designs unique is not just the products I create, but the values behind them—I strive to be honest, transparent, and authentic in everything I do. Each design I make carries a piece of that commitment, whether it’s for someone’s special occasion or simply to brighten their day.

Right now, I’m excited to keep expanding my collection and share even more ways for people to celebrate life’s meaningful moments through creativity.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that my worth and potential were defined by what others thought of me. I placed so much value on people’s opinions that I began to measure myself against their words. If they doubted me, I doubted myself. If they told me I couldn’t do something, I believed I wasn’t capable. For many years, I carried that weight, living within the limits that others set for me instead of walking in the freedom God had for me.

But over time, the Lord began to work on my heart. He reminded me through His Word that my identity is not rooted in what people say, but in who He says I am. Scriptures like “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14) and “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13) began to replace the lies I had believed for so long.

It wasn’t an overnight change — it took years of prayer, growth, and letting God renew my mind. But little by little, I began to let go of the need for outside approval and started to trust God’s plan for my life. Today, I no longer live according to other people’s opinions. I live with the confidence that my worth comes from Christ alone.

I share this because I know many people struggle with the same thing — carrying the weight of others’ expectations. But let me encourage you: you don’t have to live that way. God created you with purpose, and His voice is the only one that truly matters. When you put your trust in Him and see yourself through His eyes, you’ll find a freedom that no one can take away.

It hasn’t been an easy journey, but it has been one of the most life-changing. And if God could break those chains in me, He can do the same for you.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Dear Younger Me,

I know what you’re experiencing right now doesn’t make sense. You wonder why life feels so heavy, why you have to carry things you never asked for, and why it feels like no one else can understand what you’re going through. I need you to know this: nothing you’re facing is wasted. Every tear, every trial, every season of confusion is shaping you into someone stronger, wiser, and full of grace.

You may feel overlooked, but you are never forgotten. God sees you. He hears every silent prayer and knows every ache in your heart. The pain you’re carrying today will one day become the very testimony that lifts someone else out of their darkness. What feels like a breaking season right now is actually a building season. God is preparing you for greater things than you can imagine.

Don’t let the opinions of others define your worth. You are more than enough. You are loved, chosen, and equipped with everything you need to walk through this. One day, you will look back and realize that even the hardest moments carried purpose. You’ll see that what the enemy meant for harm, God used for good.

So keep going, even when it’s hard. Keep trusting, even when you don’t have all the answers. One day, you’ll thank yourself for not giving up. And one day, you’ll tell your story, and it will breathe hope into hearts that needed to hear it.

With love,
Your Future Self

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, it is! I strive to be the same person at home, at church, and in business because I believe God calls us to live with integrity in every area of our lives.

Transparency is a value I hold dearly, and I want others to see that they can trust me, knowing I seek to honor God in all I do, no matter the setting.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I don’t want people to remember me for accomplishments or titles, but for the way I made them feel. I hope they remember that I loved deeply, listened with an open heart, and cared for them in a way that left a mark.

I want my life to be a testimony that no matter what I faced, I overcame because I trusted God’s hand in every season. Even in the hardest moments, I knew He was in control, and that faith carried me through.

If there’s one story I hope is told, it’s that my life was evidence of God’s goodness, and that His love flowed through me to those around me.
