Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Perry.
Hi Will, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We started in KC selling mid-century furniture and plants back in 2015. My wife and I relocated to Atlanta and continued the tradition there. Over the years, we developed some great relationships in the plant business, and our business has naturally morphed into primarily plant retail, cactus specifically. We travel in the cactus bus all around the South East, hosting cactus popups at local plant shops and managing a cactus warehouse open to the public in Atlanta. Last year we started selling cactus cuttings online, and this year we are excited to announce that we’ve opened up new popup centers in Texas and back in our favorite place KC.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth, no. Fun. We’ve had to pivot over the years based on location, what was selling, and what was available to sell. Sometimes you have to take a step back and re-assess your strategy. The Vine plays a much bigger role in our business today, but we hope the varnish will get its shine back eventually.

Varnish and Vine sell cactus cuttings and tropical plants all over the country. We sell premium cuttings from rare varieties harvested sustainably. Cacti are an excellent plant for any lifestyle — they require little maintenance, look amazing, and each one is unique. We are excited to be opening back up where we started in Kansas City.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Always be building relationships and meeting new people. Capitalize on luck when life brings that blessing your way.
