Conversations with Angelic Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelic Brown.

Hi Angelic, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Angelic Brown but most people call me Angel. Everything pretty much started for me when I was 15 years old. I wasn’t a socialite growing up but I loved watching others enjoy themselves.

I started attending a teen club called Club Sweat on the weekends as a way to decompress and over time I grew a love for promoting and hosting. I was given an opportunity to become a promoter full-time and that kicked off my journey.

As I got older, I collaborated with other Clubs, DJs, and promoters which opened up opportunities for me to find a solid team to work with. In 2016, I worked with Empire Room where I met Joshua Lewis, CEO of Updown Nightlife and after working together, I joined the team as a Social Media Manager.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The challenges were very difficult in the beginning.

I quit my job in 2017 to become an entrepreneur so everything felt like a slow climb. At times, I questioned myself if I’d made the right decision, but I continued to show up for myself every day and in return, I was blessed with opportunity after opportunity.

I had more time to explore other interests and put more time into the things I love to do like social media and managing my artists like Del Ro’yale and Tiggzmusic.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Aside from managing my artists and being a Social Media Manager for Updown Nightlife, I assist other clients/companies with social media as well.

I am a Director/Line Producer for Viewpoint Visuals and a Creative Director for the Clothing Company VVS Star. I’ve also done Brand Ambassador work for Coco Luxx (Based in LA) and King Palm. What sets me aside from others is my hustle and I don’t limit myself to what I can do.

Some of the things I love to do were just affirmations/ideas 3 years ago. Directing was a gift. I didn’t realize I had until now, I love everything about it. There are so many things I can do and want to do it’s crazy at times, lol. But I don’t allow others to box me in.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking?
I wasn’t much of a risk-taker in the beginning.

I struggled a lot growing up so I always feared if I did not make the right decisions it would jeopardize my stability. After making the huge jump of quitting my job, I’m not going afraid of going after anything I want anymore.

I realized that once removed my fear of failing, I begin to win.
